Any experience/recommendations for placement of port in the arm vs. chest area?

Trying to decide placement in the arm would be an option for me.

Most people have it in the chest.  I had mine in my arm.  I like that I don't have another scar near my chest area.  My scar is on the underside of my arm so it is not noticeable really.  My PS did not want it in my chest because of reconstruction.  I exercised daily with the port and it didn't really bother me until my TE's got really expanded...then it rubbed on my TE a little so I was just careful.

I had it in my chest, and it never bothered me. I was never given an option as to choice of placement.  Chest placement was fine, scar is small, I don't care about scars in the great scheme of things at any rate anymore, since I have scars from BMX/recon and lumpectomy. The port placement surgery for me was a non-event:  did not hurt, ever.

    Good luck.

I had mine just under my collarbone since I had TE's.  I was so worried about getting it, and in the end it was no big deal.  I was grateful to have it during chemo, got used to it in a few days and had it removed right before my reconstruction.  That was a month ago, and the scar is tiny and fading every day.

I had one step implants, so they were in when I got my port. My port is in the little hollow between my shoulder and the very top of my chest. Unless I wear a top with spaghetti straps, no one would ever know it's there. I am rarely even aware of it.
