IBC pathology report

Hello, I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC IBC on September 16th. I went through 16 rounds of ACT chemo with 12 rounds of Herceptin and just had a right modified radical mastectomy with auxiliary lymph node dissection last Wednesday. I saw my surgeon yesterday to go over the pathology report. They found no invasive cancer in the breast and the 11 lymph nodes that were removed were all negative as well. He said the results were excellent and was very pleased. He also said the only thing they found was a few DCIS cells but those were removed and they are no big deal. Should I be concerned about these few DCIS cells that were removed? Has anyone on here had a similar pathology report?

I think that sounds like a very good report! I think you should celebrate! You can read my history in my signature below. IBC was dx while still in treatment for my original dx of IDC and DCIS. Chemos were changed and when I had my uni-mx 6 months later, no evidence of disease was found. I continue to be all clear. Sounds like your news suggests a similar good outcome for you as well! Good luck.

Thank you Faith316! My symptoms showed up at the very end of my pregnancy with my third son, so it was treated as mastitis for almost 3 months before a biopsy was done and I got my diagnosis of IBC. So by the time I started treatment my breast was in really bad shape. I was elated to hear my lymph nodes were negative and no invasive cancer was found but still couldn't help being concerned about the DCIS that they found. Although everyone is telling me not to worry and the cancer is gone. I'm so glad you are doing so well after a similar path report! Take care!

Thanks Bon! I guess I'm just a little superstitious and have a hard time saying "cancer free"
