lump after bilateral mast? chest wall recurrence.

Options

How do they do it? How to they do the lumpectomy when I have implants? Will they tAke the implant out?

I have a upcoming MRI on Wed. I won't have the contrast because I am 21 weeks pregnant now. Will that even be effective?

When I had by u/s guided biopsy they scanned my chest lymph nodes and my underarm ones and they said they looked all clear? isn't that a good thing? When I asked my BS she said it was in my chest WALL. How can that be? the lump is over my implant. not even where it wad the first time. Which was budding up to my chest wall at the time of surgery. Thank you for any help!!

    MomB2--

How are you doing?  Did you get answers to your question about recurrence on your chest wall?  You are post-surgery now, so you might have more answers.

nope no one ever answered! Thank you for asking:)

When they did the lumpectomy they didn't take out my implant. Should they have taken it out? what is protocol for a local recurrence?

    Thank you for replying!

I'm certainly no expert, but I would think that they would've taken the implant out if necessary.  If they could get clean margins and there was little or no skin involvement, it seems reasonable they could leave the implant.  I think I would ask both the surgeon and MO if leaving the implant impacts your odds of recurrence.  You can always have it removed at a later date if you so choose (you know - in your spare time with chemo, being pregnant and soon caring for a newborn!). I know this isn't a great response, but you said no one responded to your initial post so I figured I'd try.
