Regardless of the stage one of us cancer "stricken" ladies is : NO Doctor knows what the future holds. I would advise finding an Oncologist team that has a positive spin even on negative news...I am recently diagnosed-and was stage 4 out of the box. Nothing is easy but you will find avenues of hope...Concentrate on HOPE. find another doctor. Best to you.

Is there a chance that (while you were in a numbed state of hear your cancer Dx) that you misunderstood this first doctor? I am asking because you are currently on a chemo regimen and you have mentioned an upcoming surgery. Sounds like active treatment to me, and they usually don't give you that unless they expect some positive outcome to take place. If your outlook were really as grim as you described the doctor as saying, I think he would have steered you toward palliative treatment and have suggested hospice.
Yes, it would be good to get a second opinion, especially if it helps to clarify things for you. Take a list of questions for anything you do not currently understand. Maybe having a family member with you will help too.
Don't forget, you can get copies of any of your diagnostic records or the first doctor's office reports to take home, look over and refer back to, without having to try to remember everything that was said in the office.

Something doesn't add up here.

Absolutely NOTHING 'adds up' in this 'story' - from the beginning.
-
Agreed.

You are in Boston. I was refered to Dana Farber for treatment options. They were wonderful there. I would definately get another opinion. I just finished Chemo and it kicked me in the pants. i am now doing rads and doing okay. The fatigue is awful but you can do this, you are enot alone.
Good luck and we are all here for you.

I found her post to be a little strange from the start. I was actually thinking it was a hoax but obviously I could be wrong.
-
She never did come back after posting all over the boards.

my BS-o-meter went off after that first spam attack. We are a great supportive group of people- some people are either not honest and authentic or simply not able to accept what we offer to others.

Since helenelv1944 has deleted her original post, we're going to close this thread.
Thanks to everyone who offered their advice and support.
