New Diagnosis and high Ki67 and P53..is it TN??
My mother was just diagnosed and we are all in shock and so scared. Below is what her path reports showed..
I have looked over my mothers biopsy in more detail and this is what it is saying:
IDC
1.7 cm
ER=Negative
PgR=Negative
Ki67=Positive (90% of tumor cells, nuclear staining, moderate intensity)
P53=(100% of tumor cells, nuclear staining, strong intensity)
HER2/neu=2+
Pathologist is going to run a FISH test to determine the HER2 status. Apparantley with a 2+ it means that it is a weak reading. But I have also read that the high ki67 and P53 go hand in hand with triple negative bc.
Can anyone give me information on this?

Asoutler,
Sorry to hear of your Mom's diagnosis. You are a great daughter to be here on her behalf. beyond the ducts within the breast, possibly into the lymph nodes or not? They normally take a small sampling of lymph nodes during surgery to determine whether or not there is spread to the lymph nodes. Her medical team will do scans to determine a baseline reading and to make sure there is no spread anywhere else in the body. These tests are standard. I had them both times I have been diagnosed.
It looks like her tumour is 1.7cm, er-,pr- and looks like perhaps HER2+? If the HER2- is positive, she is not triple negative. The ER, PR and HER2 all have to be negative to be Triple Negative.
I know it is a scary time as you have been blindsided by this. Being in shock and afraid is so NORMAL. , this time it is Triple Negative. I am currently going through chemotheraphy for a 2nd time.
It looks like these results are most likely from a biopsy?
K67 - is how fast the cells appear to be dividing when looked at under a microscope by a pathologist.
Your family is at the hardest point of this journey, just finding out that she has this disease and not knowing all the facts yet. She will also probably see an oncologist and surgeon if she hasnt already done so to develop a treatment plan including what type of surgery she will need. Hang in there, it does get a little easier once the dust starts to settle and treatment gets underway.

is a very scary disease but many, many women remain in remission for many years. I went 8 years without a re -occurance and still have a VERY GOOD prognosis despite having a large tumour and positive lymph nodes the first time around. Many women never have the disease reoccur again, we are all different.
Come back and let us know how things are going and if you have any questions as many of us have travelled this path before her.

Thank you for replying Curlylocks
My parents are missionaries to Cambodia and tavel to Bangkok for their health appointments and such. That is where they found the cancer. They are coming back to the states on March 11th to see a specialist here. The nurse I talked to said that they will run a FISH test on the HER2 status to see if it is in fact HER2+. I have been doing A LOT of reading (dangerous I know) about the high Ki67 and P53 going hand in hand with TNC. I also have read that chemo does target the TNC quite well, that made me feel better to know. I am sorry to hear that you had a re-occurance
Sounds like you are doing well considering it all.
