I was told by my BS when my pathology came back following my surgery that I was ER+.  I ordered a copy of the pathology report for my records and and it says .Estrogen receptors ..Positive 90% and  below it says Progesterone Receptors . Positive 80%..  Why did my doctor tell me I was just ER+ and not both..Just curious

The probable reason that the surgeon only told you that you were ER positive, because if either ER or PR is positive then you are able to take hormonal therapy (tamoxifen, aromatase inhibitors) to prevent recurrence.  You need either ER or PR, but it seems that the ER is more crucial, and it is rare for ER to be negative and PR to be positive.  At my hospital (where I had the second and third lumpectomies) they ONLY measure ER receptivity for DCIS (although the first hospital found ER positive and PR negative).  If one has invasive cancer, the status of the PR has some bearing on the aggressiveness of the cancer, and even the type of breast cancer, e.g. if PR is negative it can sometimes be a more aggressive cancer (something called "luminal B"). This only applies to invasive breast cancer.
