Hi

I was diagnosed with IDC 12/30/2013 and have not yet had surgery. I had to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor and another 3 weeks for biopsy with MRI.  With initial breast MRI, suspicious enhancement area were found and just had a biopsy yesterday.  I just received a call and suspicious area is "atypical ductal hyperplasia".  Does this area need to be removed at surgery? How do I need to treat this?

Atypical ductal hyperplasia was on my pathology report from my non-cancerous breast.  According to my surgeon, this means that the cells are abnormal and pre-cancerous.  Will they ever develop into cancer?  Maybe, maybe not.  I am told that this is a very common finding.

     Thank you, vbishop for posting.

I had biopsy on my right breast 2 days ago and just had another one on left breast today. They put chips to the mass and doctor who operated biopsy told me these mass has to come out at surgery.  There are altogether 4 spots.  I have not talked to my BS yet and will talk tmrw...

My BS didn't want to wait and watch after I had dark nipple discharge and the MRI reported "blood debris". An excision and lumpectomy came back with ADH. BS said it would've had to have come out anyway.
