Quote of the day...☺️

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
- Rainer Maria Rilke

Granddaughter told me: "I don't like you MomMom" I figure this comes with support of baby-momma. I said, "That's Okay. Its Okay for you to not like me" Then we just go about our routines, some fun, some "Don't do this, etc" Since I have been less energetic, shall we say, after WBR, I don't care to be involved in the big outings anyway. she's delightful, but guess what, she's gonna grow up and change......
And baby momma causes conflict, so I stay cool and detached as my condition deems sensible.
Sorry not positive. Lets see: give love and expect to receive it back

"There's always the unexpected." - I can't remember the character's name, he was a British major in the movie "Bridge Over the River Qwai" - will look it up.
I also get a lot of inspiration from military quotes and attitudes when dealing with cancer. I found that the nice, loving, gentle side of me gets in the way of dealing with this miserable disease and its treatments, so have generally adopted the military attitude for facing treatment, and the Zen/Buddhist/Christian approach for living life in general. Thanks for the Patton quotes! And I so love coming here to see all the quotes and thoughts whenever I can. Thanks again, Ebru, for starting this!

"Hope" is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—

This isn't a quote, but I'd like to share it anyway. I have always loved the lyrics of this song from the opera Hansel and Gretel. It's called "The Evening Prayer". There are lots of recordings of it on you tube- check it out. It's been especially comforting lately.
When at night I go to sleep,
Fourteen angels watch me sleep.
Two my head are guarding
Two my feet are guiding
Two are on my right hand
Two are on my left hand
Two who warmly cover
Two who o'er me hover
Two to whom 'tis given
To guide my steps to heaven.
Sleeping softly, then it seems
Heaven enters in my dreams;
Angels hover round me,
Whisp'ring they have found me;
Two are sweetly singing,
Two are garlands bringing,
Strewing me with roses
As my soul reposes.
God will not forsake me
When dawn at last will wake me.

DivineMrsM - I've always loved that quote by Emily Dickinson! BrendaTrue - love the Jane Wagner one too. : ) Bon - yours too. I could go on and on though - as I'm sure we all could.
So many good ones here! Thanks again Ebru for starting this thread.
The Emily Dickinson quote got me thinking about my bookshelf full of poetry books- I actually got out a few of the ones by some of my fav poets for the first time in a long time. I'll have to pull out a few good quotes to post here later. But, for now, I'm enjoying reading some poetry again. : ) (It might even inspire me to write something again - another thing I haven't done in awhile.)
Hugs to all, Amy

ebru.....you are a RIOT!!!! Your latest quote certainly has that element of truth to it!
Amy, at some point after receiving the stage iv diagnosis, I read Fran Drescher's book "Cancer Shmancer"; she had been diagnosed with uterine cancer. That's where I came across that Emily Dickinson poem, and it really spoke to me.

love that one Ebru.....potty mouth rules

Ebru, you are truly one messed-up lady! I can always count on you for giving me a good belly laugh! (Or as the Japanese say about the Americans: "a horse laugh" that shows your teeth and everything!).
Bon, I like your quote today. And I am getting motivated to go check out my own collection of poetry books ....
-
a well-mannerred one today.

After a string on his violin broke at the beginning of a concert, Itzhak Perlman found a way to play a symphonic piece with just three strings, saying this to the audience who gave him a standing ovation:
“Sometimes it is the artist's task to find out how much music you can still make with what you have left.”
