29 yrs old - did you period return?
I had one period after I started chemo in September and then they stopped all together. I finished chemo in mid-December. I'm curious to see if any other members would be willing to share the age of diagnoses, date of last chemo, and if/when their periods returned. I am very interested in having kids someday and I pray everyday that I can resume some sense of normalcy in my life.
I saw two fertility specialists at two of the leading breast cancer institutions in the country before I started chemo. One said there was a less than 5% chance of my period coming back, another said there was a less than 5% chance that my period would NOT come back. I think it's safe to say that there isn't much clarity on this issue so I was hoping to learn from personal experiences.
I've also noticed increased hair in the weirdest places. I'm grateful that my hair is coming back, but it's coming back on my hands and not my arms. I have hair on my chin and not my head. I've always had a problem with excess hair, but this is pretty embarrassing. Has anyone else experienced this? Does this go away?

Hi there,
I finished chemo for Stage II TNBC on Sep 2012 and didn't get my period till Apr 2013. I was 34 when I was diagnosed. My period stopped after my first AC round. And since Apr 2013, it is still pretty irregular. Sometimes within a month and sometimes I go for 2-3 months with no period and my Onc said nothing to worry and Gyn said the same thing during yearly exam.
I didn't notice any excess hair coming in, but my eye brows are still thin when compared with what it used to be. And I am almost to a stage where I can call my hair cut as a short bob instead of a pixie, I can even put a short stubby pony tail.
So it will all settle down. -
I was diagnosed at age 35. I had one period after I started chemo and then I didn't get it again until 4 months after I finished chemo. Mine is pretty regular and I get it every month. Hopefully yours will return to the normal schedule too!

Hi,
I was diagnosed in May of 2006, just before my 31st birthday. I finished chemo in October 2006, and my period returned in May 2007. It was quite irregular for quite a while, but things finally settled down a year or two after it started back, and is now very regular again.

I was diagnosed at 35 in April 2013 (a month before my 36th birthday). My last period was in May and was due again the week I started chemo in June 2013 but haven't had one since. I finished chemo in October 2013 and will turn 37 this year. My MO doesn't think it will given my age which in my case is fine but everyone is different.
As for hair growth - when my started to come back in I noticed it on my jawline toward my ears - more like a lot of peach fuzz. I used a depilatory once and it hasn't come back since (two months later). I notice I don't have shave every day anymore which is nice!

Thank you all so much. It really helps to learn from experience.

Hi, my first diagnoses was when I was 36, stage 2b. I got my period back about 4-6 months after finishing chemo and it was pretty regular. The hair thing is strange, but it also will return to normal after awhile. I also had more hair on my face, but eventually it went away:)
