I am supposed to go in a few hours for biopsy results if they don't cancel me til Monday. Two years ago I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma with adenoid cystic variant, as well as DCIS in the left breast. An MRI was conducted and an area of concern was found in the right breast. It turned out to be atypical ductal hyperplasia. Consequently I had double lumpectomies followed by chemo and rads on the left.

Fast forward to now and it seems there are calcifications in the right breast in a pattern consistent with DCIS- personally I am finding myself saying I do not want to go through this every two years as it is costly and we aren't getting any younger I am now 50 and the prospect of Obama care making the decision that I am too old for treatment a few years down the line is very disturbing. I also had a major heart attack the same year 2012.

I am thinking if this is positively DCIS I am going to push for a BMX. Call me crazy but why wait for them to carve me up little by little year after year?

hey, I'm with you.  I had a low grade tiny cancer in my right breast three years ago.  Highly estrogen positive and I have been taking Arimidex.  At my January mammogram there was an area of calcifications in the left breast and I was scheduled for a biopsy.  I made up my mind right then and there that if it was anything other than benign, I was getting a BMX.  I can hardly stand getting a mammogram, I am that terrified.  So it is DCIS, at least I hope that's all, but high grade and highly estrogen positive.  So much for the Arimidex.  They both come off on March 24 with immediate reconstruction.  Hate to wait but have to have two surgeons so that's that.  No more of this crap for me.   Definitely don't want radiation on my left side either.  So BMX is really the best and only option for me.  Good luck making a decision that is best for your situation.

Well I hope all goes well for you this next month. I just got a call to let me know there were no abnormalities found in the cells so I dodged the bullet this time around. But they said it requires a follow up in 6 months. I am so glad that for now life can get back to normal. I will be thinking of you on your journey. I have a very good friend that had a BMX and it very happy with the results.
