So I thought this wasn't supposed to happenSingingI talked to the nurse today and she said I needed to take it easy and they were going to give me some pain meds because cramps are bad. She also so this could be a heavy flow and might affect my counts. Has anyone gone thru this and what was your experience with it? I just wonder if this could be an issue since my cancer is PR/ER +....I really want my ovaries to just chill ya know??

I started my period 3 days after my first round of chemo and that was the last one I've had.  That was April 2012.  I do remember that periodically my ovaries would remind me that they were still there since I would feel a dull pain.  That pain was no different than I used to feel right before I had my periods.  I wasn't surprised that I had one then because I had my periods like clockwork and I am assuming that my body was already on schedule to have it regardless of the chemo.  You may want to mark on the calendar about when your period started and how long it lasted and keep track of things on a calendar.  As time goes on while you are in chemoland, if you keep track of your side effects and body changes, it will be easier to tell your onco about those things.  Hopefully Aunt Flo has made her last visit to you.

I had my period during my first chemo and then never got another one.  Maybe this will be your last for a while.  Don't worry....wait and see.

I also had a period after my first infusion of chemo (delayed by a couple of weeks). Then, I never had another one, and then I had my ovaries removed.

After my second week of treatment I had lots of pain in my left ovary then a heavy period with more bright red bleeding than usual. It lasted about a week and hasn't reappeared since. The nurses told me it was very normal, as your body adjusts to the drugs. My blood counts were low the following 2 weeks but not low enough to stop treatment. Good luck!
