Zometa
I receive my first Zometa infusion next week. My MO got it approved for me after the mega study results came out in the San Antiono Breast Cancer conference.
She went over side effects but I'm wondering what other stage III and IV experiences have been with a Zometa and/or Reclast.
Did you get fever and flu like symptoms? I know everyone responds differently but it helps to know I'm not alone.

peacestrength, until members post with their own experiences, you can read more about Zometa at the main Breastcancer.org site. To reach Stage IV members directly, you might want to post your question on the thread If you are NOT Stage IV but have questions please post here.

Thanks, Mods.

no problems at all, best wishes to you

I've had one infusion so far and it was uneventful. I get my second one next month.

Living and Sharon - thanks for your response. It's good to know that you both responded fine.
One friend got fever for a few days and had bone pain.

I've had one infusion and had quite a fever -- for a few consecutive days. Had to take Advil and fly across country. I can't get the Zometa where I live, even after the San Antonio conference, so I had it where my son lives. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
I also think that I had some increased depression for the first month or so after.
So glad I got it because after 2 years on Femara, I've already had significant bone loss. I hope of course that it will prevent mets, but at the least I hope it will prevent progression of the osteopenia.

absolutely no problems.. Thankfull I was given this option.

hi. I have received Zometa for the last year and a half. I did it with my chemo originally at three month intervals and could not really figure out which symptoms went which drug at that point. Since then it has been every three months and now since December it is monthly since completing radiation for a bone met. I feel it is pretty uneventful except I feel very very tired the same day and the following day. This drug is on my list of things not to dread. I have never had any other symptoms with it and it is a rather quick infusion. Mine takes about twenty minutes. Good luck!

Thanks for responding everyone. Like lkc mentioned, I'm thankful to be receiving Zometa as well. I look at it as another tool in the toolbox for continued fighting.

I am thankful too. I was going to ask my onc about it but she beat me to it.

I have had Zometa every 6 mos for 3 years, no problems. So much easier than weekly pills!

Thanks everyone for your input!

I just had my first Zometa infusion. My 2nd one will be in 6 months. I was nervous but scheduled the same nurse who did my chemo infusions - we've become friends and I trust her - so it went smooth. I just have to watch for fever and flu like symptoms.
