Oh, Chevy, I'm so sorry to hear this!  This winter has been brutal to so many!  Sending strength and healing vibes your way!  Hope all goes well in surgery and you are back with us and on your feet quickly!

    Chevy - heal fast.

gg- great news!  What did you do to lower your blood sugar?  My oncs said only ( ONLY?????) 5 years on arimidexwhich I did.

No studies yet on value of more than 5 years ( per my team at Dana Farber) and SE's ( heart, cholesterol, BP, joint pain, sahara skin, etc) not worth it.  Felt like playing russian roulette with 5 bullets when I stopped ( 1 year ago!) - but also RELIEF, NO MORE JOINT PAIN, ENERGY ENERGY, ENERGY....so.....no answers...but still PROUD OF MYSELF for doing 5 years :-)

Good morning though I have to run and come back later.  Just wanted Blue to knowThumbsUp it's a great sig line.  The true ones always grab ya!! More snow today....beautiful, but not really wanted.  Well, in a couple of days time we will be much warmer and it will go away....four inches at least though I think.

Lots of stuff from NJ still going on and where it stops nobody knows.

    Hi Friends,

Another fun filled day of shoveling snow on my lunch break and really crappy dictators.  In 13 days of working for this company I have only made it to minimum wage once.  That was $7.75 per hour.  My back is killing me.  The snow is now heavy and very wet.  I made it all the way to our big gate.  I just left the shovel next to the gate/fence so Tim can shovel the rest of the driveway when he gets home later.  I just hope he can finish it today, as I have to be able to get out of here.  The snowplow left a huge pile of snow at the end of our driveway.  And more snow/freezing rain is forecast for tomorrow.  Too bad there is no way I could shovel a path down through the fields, it's actually 54 degrees right now.  Tank is loving this snow!

Going to take a pill and get back to work.

Chevy ... I hope you  have a quick recovery and that you aren't in pain.  My friend Brenda had the rod put in her femur for stabilization.  They only kept her in the hospital one or two days post surgery.  Hope you get out soon!

Jackie ... I know exactly what you mean about your friendship with Chevy.  I've been there and it's very special.

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Hey Bren- it's less than two weeks and you made it where you didn't think you could. Here's hoping the next two weeks are even better.

Sunny, when I cut out dairy and wheat my blood sugar started dropping.  Also, though I eat some sugar, not a lot and most of what I do eat is in the form of dark - really dark chocolate. Even when i make a pie, it's just fruit.  I don't usually add any sugar. The concentrated fruit juice is enough for me and the pie crust is brown rice and tapioca flours.

Blue, I also love your new signature line. ;)

The bad news is that the letrozole is affecting my liver, so I need to keep watch on that.  My onc is not convinced that the upside of more than 5 years on an AI, specifically letrozole, outweighs the downside, so as of now, I have another 2 years and 8 mos to go.

Another hurrah, though not much of one, is that since I retired I've lost a tiny bit of weight. Really tiny, only 3 lbs, but any amt is great as far as I'm concerned.  :)

Just heard from Tim .. he's still at least 1 1/2 hours from getting home.  I hate that he's going to have to figure a way to get over the mini mountain of snow the snowplow left at the end of the driveway after dark.  Then he's got to somehow get the big gate open and the truck up to the house.  It's got 4-wheel drive so I think he'll be okay.  He said he would take me to the store tomorrow.

Gumby .. glad to hear you lost a couple of pounds.  It's hard work losing weight!  I had lost 45 pounds, but I've gained 7 back and I'm so frustrated with myself that I can't get it back off!

River .. we have never had this much snow in the 8 winters I've spent here.  It's going to be a while before I can walk the dogs again.

Chickadee .. did you start radiation yet?

Lassie .. thanks for the encouragement!  Have to remind myself to be grateful I finally have a job after looking for so long.

Much love to all on Valentine's day,

    Bren

Loved the weather words...like cryoseisms -- ice quakes causing underground explosions.  Can't remember who it was that Al Rocker set straight on the "polar vortex", but even though I had never heard the phrase before I did know that  'weather' had its own terminology.

Well, I'm officially alone for 2 weeks. Bought my Lean Cuisine frozen dinners - they were on special $1:63 off, so I got 10!!!! Nearly couldn't fit them in my freezer :) I am going to cook on one night when this heat goes away - Beef Frajita pizzas - got a nice piece of rump steak just enough for 2, so that does me 2 nights - yumm.

Chevy, hugs to you and my best wishes for quick healing.   Didn't mean to leave you out of my last post. Had read about 16 pages of posts and just couldn't remember it all.  Blue, love the pics, especially the cardinal.  Lassie, what a wonderful trip!!  Good time of the year to leave ontario!  Bren, sorry for the less than minimum wage work .... The good thing is you don't have unpaid  commuting time and gas expenses ... And you can work in your pj's!

Watch out - I cleaned out my pantry and cleaned our bathroom!!! Steve going away is good for the house. I have been wanting to get the pest people in for ages and will arrange it in the next 2 weeks BUT I like to have floors all washed before I get them out. Well, it's too hot this weekend, but maybe next weekend. Cleaning the pantry wasn't too hot, but it SO needed to be done - you can actually find things now:) Maybe I'll tidy all of my kitchen cupboards - maybe not.

Just had a swim to wash off the sweat - the water is really a good temp.

Blue - love love love the polar bear with her cubs, and the baby fawn deer, those wonderful spots.

rr - wonderful weather words.  SNOWING, not as much as you folks in Canada are getting now, but lovely to look at, this storm seems to be coming from the east, thank goodness we're not getting what those near Bawsthan are getting.  MUCH heavier to shovel, this was a wet, and often ice layers in snow.

Full Confession - I'm getting tired of Downton Abbey.  Bored, really.  Seems to have worn itself out, really REALLY reaching for story lines now.

Got up to a wonderful day so far.  Mainly as there is sun.  It may go away later.....and maybe even more snow flurries.  I am getting tired of the snow and cold.  It snowed about three inches the last time.....and dustings later.  Enough already !!!!  Even though I love snow.  Well we are due for it to start warming this next week.....fingers really heavily crossed.

Someone on another thread ( you likely have all had this for a long time ) shared a web-site called Skin Deep the other day.  You can type in many of the things you use....especially talking here about cosmetics, bath and hair products, etc.  Wow !!!!  Interesting.   You can find out what is in a lot of the everyday things you use....like hand lotions.   Very interesting for me.
