Wonderful!!!  Thanks so much for the pic.  Oh how I wish I could've been there too. Maybe some day.  Benny, you especially look so much better, I think your hair is a little bit longer than mine.   :-)

    HiNerdy,
What a fabulous picture of the Canadian Five. Such awesome ladies and a tonic for the girls still going through treatment.
THIS is how you will look before you know it.
Hope everybody on here is doing well.
Jackpot, Rads nearly over Smile well done.

Had a lovely few days with my DS and tonight his sisters took him out for dinner. That is a rare and special time for them all.
He goes back home tomorrow but it has been lovely to have him all to ourselves for a few days.
Choir tonight was really great we are doing a celebration for the 100th Anniversary of World War One this summer.

DH and DS watching one of the most violent Sly Stallone movies ever at the moment Scared gosh that man is ugly.
I have been catching up with Mr Selfridge, now that is a good drama.

Off to land of nod. Each day energy levels improving again, so fingers crossed it continues.

    Love to ALL.

Edi, your kids all have beautiful smiles, and look really happy to be together. It is always so special when they spend time with each other, right? Glad you're enjoying choir again! I so agree about Stallone. He never says much either, and when he does speak, it is in monosyllables or grunts - LOL!

Jenifer, those lavender placemats sound like just the thing - good for you! So happy for you that everything is coming together so nicely.

Just want to thank those four fab ladies again for the wonderful time we had yesterday. It was something that I had been looking forward to for a long time, and we will repeat it in future, for sure. Benny, it was so good to meet you too, and to see that you look so well. Ladies, she is small, dainty and beautiful with thick hair, blue eyes, and long lashes - really pretty! Thanks again for the gift bag filled with lovely goodies, and Websister, thanks for the earrings - all of these will remind me of our very pleasant meeting.

DIL and I went to see 'Gravity' this afternoon at the IMAX. On entering we received those 3D eye glasses, and it was my first experience watching a movie like that. It was a cool experience. Afterwards we bought Chinese takeaways, and are now impatiently waiting for DS to come home so we can devour it. I do plan to walk on the treadmill in the condo gym afterwards . . .

So my DH and I are holed up in the house waiting for the ice storm of the century. It could be very bad if the accumulation of ice combined with the up to 25 m/hr winds come together over my house. Trees will fall and power will be out for a while. The whole event makes us Southerners look so silly.

Edi…so nice to see your "young adults". I agree with the Stallone thing too. My DH can sit and watch to most outrageous movies…drives me nuts…I have to leave and go to another room. I joke with him that I am going to make him watch 2 hours of "Yes to the Dress", a program that shows bridezillas picking out a wedding dress.  So when is Downton Abby coming the the US? I still might not be able to see it unless it is on Netflix, because we do not subscribe to cable  or satellite.

Do wish Benny would come back and say hi… that picture of the FAB 5 has me motivated to stick to my diet and anxious for my hair to return. Again, all of you look so happy and beautiful. Your blogs show your beautiful spirits and the picture says the rest.

Liefie…yep, I am satisfied with my lavender placemats….they match the bridesmaid dresses exactly…I think it was meant to be.

So I had to reschedule my pre op because of this pending storm. No problem, that was easy…but the concerning thing is that my PS broke his ankle and is in a cast. He uses a scooter to move around the office and to surgery. Well, I am glad it was not his hand that was broken, but seriously, I hope he is up to doing my surgery in 2 weeks.

So hopefully I will wake up in the AM with power and hot coffee to drink. If you do not hear from me for a few days, just turn on the news. I am certain that our woes will make national news. At least last time it did…SNL, Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report.

Stay warm,   and let us stay positive about any pending tests.

Jennifet hope you are safe ?

Here tonight it is terrifying ,winds of up to 108 miles an hour.Lights flickering on and off. Wheelie bins flying about ( giant plastic garbage bins ) one has smashed into DH car. Hope no damage. More importantly hope no one gets hurt.

Flooding further down the country, lots of homes destroyed. Our government is useless. The army are amazing sandbagging homes and rescuing people.

ED just said her massive bi fold doors were almost smashed by flying metal garden furniture.

England is on a Red warning Trees being ripped up.

They say it is hurricane force. I think the wind is a scarey thing.

Will post tomorrow if we havent blown away.

I am still with power. All businesses are closed for tomorrow. On the news they interviewed a man from Ottawa who was on his way to Florida. He said that this snow is not like Canadian snow. Ours is wetter and there is a mixture of sleet and freezing rain mixed with it.

Edi…OMG please stay safe and hold on. A winter hurricane….an awful combination. Way too much to deal with.

Dakota…I think this system is headed your way. Hope you can stay home with the kids.

    hi ,

Still here, winds dying down a bit locally but lots of other places in a right mess.Lack of power in 25'000 homes. One poor man has been electrocuted by a power cable but no other deaths at the moment.

DH now watching football  But at least he has stopped trotting around the house with his flaming torch !! He will be out at first light checking for damage.

Jennifer, meant to say the placemats are a WONDERFUL idea. Saves all that sewing and the fact they were the same colour shows it was meant to be. Hope your storm doesn't affect you too much. Really weird the way we are all getting weather totally alien to our particular countries. According to our "experts " it is something to do with the Gulf Stream going haywire. Load of tosh !! We have messed up our planet and this is payback time.

Liefie, did you like Gravity ? Not too fond of those 3d glasses myself all a bit too near ha ha.

Dakota! hope the storm doesn't get to you.

My DS went back home today we did have a lovely time. Worried sick about him though, he is so obese that he can hardly walk. the diabetes in our family will surely hit him if he doesn't lose some weight.

Hate to nag him as he is such a sweetheart but tried to gently put the idea of maybe losing some weight soon as his sisters have done for health reasons.Years ago asked his wife to maybe encourage him to watch his weight and the nasty piece of work went for me hammer and tongs. she now too is massive and I really don't care what happens to her but he is another story?Know he is unhappy so think he comfort eats.

Rant over, going to sleep now noise of flying objects has died down.

Stay safe, we'll and happy ALL of you X

Edi, yes, I liked 'Gravity'. Sandra Bullock is always good, but George Clooney died a little too soon though - lol. I was blown away by the 3D experience, and ducked a few times as the space debris came flying by - funny.  Hear you about your son and his weight. I have the same struggle with my oldest son. It's like alcoholism - they have to see the light, and make that decision for themselves, unfortunately. Stay safe from the storm now!

Movie, hang in there with your mom, okay?

DD saw dr today, and is 2 cm dilated, but not in labour yet. It is still so surreal that I am going to be a grandma soon, but it is so wonderful!

Morwenna, DD's due date is March 8, so another three weeks or so. Apparently with the first child it is not unusual to be dilated like that for a period of time, so we'll see.

Those of you in the path of all the storms, please take care!

    hi Nerdy,
All calm on the western front !! peaceful and dry at the moment. Smile watching the news and our wonderful fishermen in Cornwall are in despair. They have hardly been able to leave port for months. No fishing = no income.
Seems all happening again tomorrow Scared

Liefie, DS 2cm Singing I too thought baba was on its way out. How exciting for you all. Lovely happy news.
This is the start of one of the best times of your life. Babies bring such joy and hope with them. Hope DD has a problem free labour.
Thanks for thoughts on DS the answer IS in his own hands I know but as he lives quite far away feel as if he expands so much each time. Hopefully the diabetic talk may trigger something off.
Agree on George being killed off too soon, that man is yummy, lol. We saw Titanic in 3D and all I did was duck my head ha ha.

Still no news on bone scan Scared trying not to give it too much thought and keeping busy.

Won TWICE at Bingo yesterday. Today in charity shop helping for the afternoon. busy busy.

Can hear DH thumping about upstairs, off I go to do the wifely things.
    Love to all X

The storm has finally past. My yard is solid white. I feel much less anxious today because I think we will continue to have power! Amazing, I did not see any limbs in the front yard. So the sun will rise today and begin to melt the snow.

Liefie…so happy for you and your DD. You will be a wonderful Grandmother! Such a joyous time approaching

The snow has melted in Yachats, so Keiko Cottage will be getting a new roof and front deck in the coming weeks. Once I get to Oregon, I may never want to leave. Ladies, get your map out and locate Yachats. It is a mid point on the Oregon Coast, about 25 miles south of Newport. Then start planning a get away for the summer. Nihahi…there are so many trails to hike, or just stroll along the 804 trail that is in front of our cottage that goes along the edge of the Pacific.

Watched "The Blind Side" last night. I am a Sandra Bulloch fan. It was good to see it a second time. One of those feel good movies for a frosty night.

Edi… bone scans must be complicated to take this long to get a report. But seriously, at this point, I truly believe there is nothing on it to raise big red flag. So get out there and have a great day at the thrift store. I am a thrift store "junkie". When I find a piece of Waterford marked $2, I get such a "high".

Coffee cup is empty, so time for the day to begin. Have a great day!!!

Jenifer and Edi, happy to hear you two have not been blown away, and that there is some respite from the storms. Our planet is certainly going through a very tumultuous phase as far as weather. We are supposed to get copious amounts of rain in winter on our island, as well as a few storms, which did not happen. It is a rainforest where we live, and we have had very little rain so far. Wonder what summer will bring . . . Oh well, that's one thing we have zero control over, and will just roll with the punches as best as we can.

Yachats and that cottage sound just lovely, Jenifer! Will you consider renting it out at all? I've never been down the Oregon coast, and it's on my bucket list, as well as a safari in Kenya, the Victoria Falls, and the Okavango delta. Hope I live long enough, and have enough money, to do them all. The one dream that will probably never happen is to go through the Panama Canal. DH hates cruising, and will no doubt start behaving like a caged tiger after two days - lol. Maybe I can convince a friend or one of my children to do this with me. Will see how this works out. There's more ways to kill a cat than drowning it in cream!

DIL has the day off, and we are making lots of lasagne. She wants to give some away, and freeze the rest. She brought me a Tim Horton's coffee in bed this morning. Love that girl.

Jenifer....I know Yachats. Hubby and I rode our bikes (10 speed) up the Oregon coast years ago. We camped all the way, staying in beautiful State Parks right along the coast, in the "hiker/biker" sections. We still remember that trip as one of our best vacations.

    Crazy weather....and liefie....Timmies in bed...what a treat!

    Hi Nerdy,
Second time of posting grrrr Devil used DH I pad and it just lost the page.
Awaiting high winds AGAIN about noon. Yesterday was sunny and cold. What on earth is going on ?

Liefie, your weather too sounds barmy. Love your DIL what an angel, mine would just pour the coffee over me, not that she has ever made us even a cup of tea in eleven years lol.

Movie, how's Mom ? she is so lucky to have you.Love your pics on F/B  of those glorious scenes of your gorgeous country Happy

Nihahi, DH has a bike in the shed, when weather improves going to have a go, you and DH riding as far as you did has me in awe. We are going to source local bicycle paths as motorists are evil where bikes are concerned.

Benny is sounding good on F/B fighting for the wild horses, one gutsy lady Smile

May get a quick walk in before all hell breaks lose, laters potatas.

Love and healing to you all X

Edi...defo search out those pathways. Cars and bikes are not a good mix out here either. The car will ALWAYS win!!! The Oregon coast roads are awesome for bikers....wide shoulders, special lights in tunnels....glorious views.....incredible memories. (some killer hills!!!!). Hope the storms die down for everyone....what a weather year!

Nihahi, happy Valentine's Day to you too, and to everybody else. Echoing Nihahi, you all have a very special place in my heart, and I love you all.

Edi, like you I'm in awe of Nihahi, and what she has done, and can do physically. What a good example to the rest of us - she inspires me every day. You made me laugh with that picture of DIL pouring coffee all over you. Such a shame though. When I got married, I realized that getting along with MIL was important, otherwise DH would never be as happy as he deserved to be. She and I had our hiccups, but we sorted it out. She stayed with us for months at a time when my kids were little, and I had to work. Took excellent care of my house and kids - I didn't have to worry about a thing. Every day when I came home from school, there was a delicious home-cooked meal on the table. So I was free to spend time with my kids, and do my school work. Will always be grateful to her for jumping in, and helping me out in my time of need. She's been gone for 23 years already, bless her heart.
