Thanks for the input, nihahi, sbe, and goldie, I have made up my mind to start the injection when ps does the scar revision tomorrow.
blue and lahela, the essential oil blend I use is called Panaway from Young Living. The main ingredient that is suppose to help nerve regeneration is Helichrysum. It seemed to have worked for me.

Hi Everyone!! Today I have all of the pre-op test done. I just have to see my GP on Thursday. A week from today my husband and I will be on our way to San Antonio!! My grandson is so excited and he has all of his dinosaurs waiting for Grandma to play with. Amazing he is on dinos now. The little one is working on the different levels of getting ready to walk. Perhaps he will walk b/f the surgery day. Anyways, you all have a great evening as I will be taking my 11 year old niece out for the well awaited girls' day out!
-
Nihani, sorry about your cancelled appt. You look great. Stage 2 is done? Right? I would be so happy to give it all a rest.
Tammy, hope the steroids shots work for you. There are lasers that work on scars too.
Mammalou, glad you are home. Rest and then rest some more...hehehehe. Good luck with the liver doc tomorrow. I hope your enzymes return to normal soon.
SBE, do you think the DIEP surgery reversed your truncal lymphedema? I remember Damiana saying her arm was better after her DIEP.
-
hey ladies ! Its been a while, I hope everybody is feelin good and enjoyed all of your holidays and family and fun and all that good stuff
I have a couple questions and I'll start with the one that just happened... here and there I get a bad muscle kink/cramp in my abdomen right behind my incision on the left side. It actually feels like the muscle is twisting and all I can do is push into it until it stops. It hurts bad for the moment and then I'm just a little sore after. It's so strange. There is no bulging left behind, no redness no nothing.
I'm curious if anyone has experienced this.
on a lighter note..I'm counting down the days till I get my new nips
) woowoo! LOL
-
hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Had a few questions for you PRMA ladies out there. Has anyone had the sensory nerve reconstruction or lymph node transfer done there? I was checking their website out to send info on DIEP flap to a friend who just had a horrendous implant experience (FYI don't get recon done in AK!!) what has your experience been and who was your surgeon?? Are they blue cross shield preferred providers? I am scheduled to do a consult in Seattle but was wondering if this might not also be an option...
-
yep goldie, stage 2 is done, and I am very happy with the results.
But, I have been waiting going on 23 YEARS to have enough resemblance of a right breast, to want to have the final touch of a nipple. I now have had the amazing recon that has finally given me the pain-free, soft, warm look of a breast, AND I WANT THE DAMN NIPPLE!!!!!!
Today's appt was "hopefully" when I would find out when that might happen. I was so pissed off that I went down to the condo gym and ran my brains out on the treadmill. Then, had a lovely gathering with 4 other BCO ladies. I now have to ask the Red Cross to give me some time off next week, to try again to make this appt happen. I told them I was available for 3 weeks, and I hate to break a commitment to them. Just a frustrating day for me....you'd think after more than two decades of waiting, a few more weeks or "whatever" wouldn't be a big deal, but it certainly felt like it this morning. Tomorrow is another day, right!
-
Nihani...lmaooo...I just watched that movie. I am sorry. I thought you had your nipple down. Your boobs look so good I guess I thought I saw two nipples. Well, the Red Cross will have to live without you for a day. You are a volunteer, and a good one. I a sure they will understand. You Canadian girls get some great recons, but the waiting is crazy.
dvygirl, I would be nice of al those new surgical techniques work. I don't know of anybody on these pages that has had one. I have only watched the propaganda video's put out by the docs that do the surgery. I don't mean that in an ugly way. Just didn't know any other way to put it. I guess "informational videos." They have to take the nodes from somewhere else, so that could leave you open to lymphedema in your groin, or leg, and it still might not cure your original problem. I have heard good things about PRMA.
Gotcha, it sounds you have a muscle spasm you can't walk off, like if it were in your foot, or calf. OUch. I assume you have tried rubbing it out?
-
Nihahi,
After all that waiting, you deserve the best damn nipple there is!! You'll get there... Goldie, I was wondering the same thing. Sounds all well and good but... The one node surgery I am contemplating is where they reattach your lymph vessels in your armpit to a vein so it has someplace to transfer liquid to without putting another area at risk. Need to do more research tho. The nerve thing is what got me excited. I'd really like to keep some feeling on my prophy side if I can. Got all my other lady parts removed, would be nice to have SOME stimulation!!
-
Way too many posts to read and catch up. WOW!
I have apt 2/12 with PS to schedule Stage 2, DIEP. Hopefully my LAST surgery!! HOPE HOPE HOPE. No nipples for me. Going for the scar covering tattoos in a couple of years.
Wishing the best for everyone.
nihahi, so sorry to see you 'pending' full recovery.
-
nihahi, that is such a shame about your appointment! I know how much you were looking forward to getting your nipple date! The time will fly, though. *hugs*
mammalou, best of luck with your liver doc! I'm sure there are loads of possibilities apart from you-know-what.
Tammy, thanks for the info. I'll have to investigate what is available here with that ingredient.
SheChirple, great to hear from you! Fingers crossed that your PS will have a great plan for your stage 2.
I've decided that the spotting and pain is a side effect of stopping Tamoxifen - I had to take a week before I started Femara yesterday and I assume that would have an effect. I'll do the wait-and-see. -
Lahela, that all makes perfect sense now. Of course, that is why you are spotting. I bet it stops soon.
Dvygirl. that is very interesting. Glad there is not more node removal involved in the process.
Shechirple, glad you stopped by. Hope your stage 2 is perfect!!!!!
-
Dvygirl--I am going to PRMA. Yes, they take b/c/bs. The lymph node procedure was just mentioned in "passing" in my consult. I know they have done a couple but my bs here said it has not been proven and then there are always to consider "what happens down the line" with this. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it. I believe I have scar tissue that just acts up all the time and it will get fixed on the 24th. I see Dr. P for a follow-up consult next Tuesday. I really don't think I would do the node transfer because of the unknowns.
If you have any questions, all you have to do is call them.
-
Dyvgirl - the Vascularized Lymph Node Transfer procedure was initially developed in France by Dr. Corrine Becker. She traveled to the US to train several doctors (Massey, Kline/Craigie, Sullivan/DellaCroce). My doc, Massey, has been doing them for at least 7 years and getting really amazing results providing considerable relief for people suffering from Lymphedema. Perhaps if you check her website (drmarga.com) there is a lot of information about the procedure and potential complications. There are many more doctors preforming this procedure in the US with way more positive outcomes than problems.

Goldie: who told u Giuliana Rancic thinks ivf caused her bc?
-
http://www.eonline.com/news/269770/e-s-giuliana-rancic-reveals-battle-with-breast-cancerSrh, Guiliana did. Google her story.
-
any MD Anderson ladies out there?
-
Dvygirl, you would think there would be more. I think there might be a few. Scan the list of dates of surgeries. Some put down where they are having their surgery. Are you thinking of going there? If you are going that far, you should come to Fort Worth (Baylor) to my surgeon. He also does surgery in Austin. If you like I will PM you his website.
-
Goldie, I'm just kinda shopping around for long term care. Might have a potential job opportunity in Houston so was just curious cuz it's right there.
-
Dvygirl, Alaska to Houston? The heat will kill you...lmaoooo. But, if you are in Houston that is the place to go for follow up care, for sure. People travel from all over the world to go there. My son lived in Houston for about a year, and liked the area okay. The cost of living is good, and housing is affordable. But, it's wring your shirt out humid 90 percent of the year.
-
Stage II not happening for awhile. I still have a skin lesion from STage I not completed healed. Will be having a revision tot hat first. Then when THAT heals, we'll talk STage II. Damn (can I say that here?)
-
Shechirple, of course you can say that here, along with lots of other bad words, if you like. I am really sorry. You have been going through this a long time. Are you eating tons of protein to get yourself healed up? I hope healing moves along a bit more quickly from here on out for you.
-
Shechirple....good to hear from you....sure wish you had better news. When is that revision scheduled?
-
Dang it. The top of the incision where the PS excised the big radiation scar is infected. I'm not very surprised, though, that was the area where the burn was the most extensive and I knew the healing would take a long time. It's not really bad, just inflamed and leaking a little pus. I'm on Bactrim and that should clear it up.
SheChirple, nice to see you again! I hope things get settled and you're at the finish line soon!
-
dang SBE! I hope that clears up soon for you!
-
Sbe - ugh, sorry to hear about your infection. I can certainly relate. ((((Hugs))))
-
sbe.....OMG.....just STOP IT !!!!!!!!! Hoping for fast and uneventful healing for you.....FOR THE LAST TIME!!!!!!!
-
SBE, you got this. That Bactrim will clear it up. Interesting, Bactrim seems to be my PS's antibiotic of choice too. I wonder why?
-
No more infection for you sbe, you ran out of your quota a while back. I am doing well, new tummy incision line looks neat and flat. hopefully it will heal well. Oh, it's still Happy Valentines Day too all
-
Yeah, Tammy. Good news. Sounds like you are doing great.
-
I am changing my avatar because I will be getting my mind set for the
big day on the 24th and just wanted all of you are just wonderful and
full of support!! hugs to all. Kat..
