Please help/hope 18 weeks pregnant:(
I find myself here once again. I was dx with TN back in Nov of 2009. I found a lump on the side where the cancer was before. It isn't near the first site of the first tumor nor in my scar. Kind of in the middle. I went for an ultrasound and he said it could be one of two things. OF COARSE I blocked out what he said first and just heard CANCER! I don't think it was fat necrosis. it was some sort of bigger word. What was weird was the doc came back after looking at the slides and said it's not like the last one(I am thinking to myself because the other one was big, like size of an egg right before chemo started). or the way it looked. BUT I wouldn't't think he would have the slides from over 3years ago since thus was just a breast center where I got the ultrasounds. AND to make matters worse, I am pregnant! UN expectantly pregnant at 39 because the told me after chemo I wouldn't't be able to have any more!! Thank you for listening. You ladies in her are so eloquent, inspiring and always encouraging!! May God bless you all!

Mom2B, I want you to know that you will get a lot of support here and may be able to find others who have gone through the same things as you. I will be anxious to hear more. When will you hear more? Did you have a biopsy?
-
Mom2B, can you call your doc's office and ask what that "other thing" he mentioned was? And what testing is up next, to help with a diagnosis?
-
Hi mom2be -
First ((hugs)) and congratulations on your pregnancy.
It isn't surprising that whenever any of us who have had this nasty sh** get scared when we go in for mammograms or ultrasounds and when they see anything .. well I'm guessing that all our alarms go off at once, so it would be hard to say 'don't worry', but are there some things that you can do to get results as soon as possible? It seems that if you're pregnant and with your history, the docs would want to know quickly too and be willing to work with you to speed things along. Can you call and perhaps get some kind of anxiety meds in the meantime just to help through the waiting period?
The other thing to remember is that because you are pregnant, the hormonal changes, etc. may be causing whatever is going on with your breast.

thank you so much for your replies. It really helps. I had a complete mastectomy so I didn't't think I would have that much tissue left for my hormones to mess with.
I go in to see my BS in the morning. from there she will schedule a biopsy. How will they do that? Will they open me up? The lump is probably like at 6:00 on my implant but on top. how will the get to it? Will they go ahead and take it all out? Will they take the implant? UGH!!
My first lump was budding up next to my chest wall. with the first 4 chemistry it totally shrink it away(they were surprised since it was TN and sometimes it is resistant). I thought for sure if I had a recurrence it would be around there. Or around the scar. But this is away from both. Thank you again for your your replies!! God bless you all.

Hello Mom2B~
How did your appointment with your BS go? I sincerely hope things are turning out okay for you. Finding a lump and having the subsequent tests are stressful enough when one's not pregnant.
I find myself in a similar situation -- I was previously dx'd in 2009, underwent a complete BMx with immediate reconstruction using TE and later swapped for implants, I'm currently just shy of 17 weeks pregnant, discovered a lump not near my scarring or chest wall, and am definitely curious as to why or how a lump formed (on top of my implant, just like yours!).
I guess my medical team is going about this backwards. The radiologist wanted me to wait until after my biopsy (which was today) to make an appointment with the BS if/as needed. So, naturally, I'm super curious as to how your appointment went! I'm trying to sort this all out in my mind while I wait for my pathology report. Oiii.
Here's to keeping ourselves and the growing jelly beans calm!
-
wow! We are so similar! I made an appointment with my BS first thing. She is super nice and I love her. She set up everything for me. I had my ultrasound first then saw her. She said the ultrasound doesn't look bad but she didn't like the way it felt! I have my biospy Tuesday!
I hope you get clear results from your biospy! What size is yours? how did you find it? I can't belive we are so similar! Congrats on you pregnancy too! Hope to here from you soon!!

mom2B :
Oh my, I just had my appointment and I can't recall the size they told me! I'm going to chalk it up to pregnancy brain (or lack there of, hah!). Thank you so much, hehe. The pregnancy was definitely a surprise since I'd been told my chances were slim to none after chemo. Congratulations on your pregnancy as well!
I found the lump myself this month during my routine self-examination. Immediately I thought it was scar tissue or fat necrosis but I didn't call my doctor. I decided to monitor it for a bit and wait until my appointment with the OBGYN to ask her check it out (I was scheduled to see her and I wasn't supposed to see my Oncologist until March). During my appointment, the OB confirmed the lump and sent me directly to the Radiologist for a diagnostic ultrasound. They found and confirmed the mass I'd mentioned. It wasn't vascular but it looked strange enough to warrant a biopsy (given my history of having BC so young). I'm going to call my Oncologist and the BS after I find out the pathology results.
That's great you have such a wonderful BS! It certainly makes things easier when you can trust your doctors. Less stress for you and baby, right? Hehe. Definitely sending positive vibes your way for your upcoming biopsy.
-
I KNOW!! I didn't think I could get pregnant either plus my age!!
Don't know what vascular is but it sounds like we are in the exact situation! I hope the best for both of us and our babies!! I can't wait to here your results!!! GOID LUCK!!
-
UGH! Due to the weather my biopsy got pushed back til Friday!! I was mentally prepared for tomorrow and to find out my results this week! Tomorrow is world cancer day!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
-
blah, it's cancer.
-
I don't have any words of wisdom for you mom2B but I saw your post and wanted to offer you a hug. This sucks!
-
This happened to a friend of mine, she wasn't pregnant but she is fine now. I hope the same for you! and I hope that the treatments do not interfere with your pregnancy. God bless!
-
Thank you. every little bit helps! it means a lot.
-
Mom2B, I'm so sorry you didn't get better news. Please know that good thoughts & prayers are being sent your way.
