love learning new words...barranca = much more interesting that big ditch.

Well, the weatherpeople are gettin' squirrely again about the forecast for this part of the world on Thursday.  I try to just avoid driving when it's heavy snow, or ice.  Know I'm not a "good" driver, that is, my instinct takes over and am HEAVY on the brakes - most difficult around here cuz there's always a layer of ice under the snow, it just packs down by this time of year, and when it does melt on a sunny day, it makes another layer of ice at night.  We'll be well below 0 again tonight.   SO, I agree with Jackie  - it is definitely time for SPRING.

DVR'd Bill Maher and the last half was hilarious......but it will take a. Baby Boomer to get it. I hope some of you can.

I think I found my next book there as well .  Just for fun, PJ O'Rourke.  Baby Boomer.

Brrrr again here.  It does look like a warm-up might be in store.  By the week-end -- perhaps 50ish.  That would feel like Bermuda weather after all this snow and cold and ice.

Still catching up from my extra three days of work.  So much to do, but its all ok.  I don't mind.....just thankful that I can do pretty much just as always.  Have noticed that I'm not nearly as grouchy now that it has been a couple of months off the Anastrozole (  generic Arimidex ).   I had not too many se's but that was one --- please don't look at me wrong or have the wrong tone of voice -- else you may be in for it.  Really didn't realize how bad it was until I was able to not use the drug.  So much for patting myself on the back for seemingly skating through on se's.  I did start out with Arimidex but then it went generic a couple of years in.

Hope you all have a great morning and day.  The sun it out here and the sky is blue with a few clouds......this could be a great summer day ( sky-wise ) but freezing outside.

    Jackie

Heat wave - 10 degrees, it should be in the high 30's at this time of year. Nor'easter due Thursday am, I feel blessed t have never had "cabin fever" and have enough art supplies to keep me happy for months, well, years.

Hi, chickadee, hope current treatment is being kind to you.  Love P. J. O'Rourke, also Chris Buckley. Happy reading.

Love the Costco cartoon - it's really true!!!

Hope all are staying warm - especially those in Dixie. Yikes - it is COLD for Atlanta.  It's a little above 0 here now, going down to -10 tonight, and then, snow on Thursday.  New England usually has cold winters, but NOTHING like this - the snow is so dry it's hard to make a snowperson.

    Stay warm all.

Heh, our low tonight is supposed to be 3 degrees but we're already down to 1 so we shall see. I don't remember in my over 60 years on the planet, all in this area, ever having so many below zero days. Also it snows every freaking day, seriously running out of places to put the stuff. Ok, enough of my whining. I just wanted to say stay safe to all of you in the path of this next storm.

Stay safe and warm all of you in the path of this latest ice/snow stuff!  Nothing worse than an ice storm.  We're getting all the way up to 27 tomorrow and with sunshine too.  It's going to feel like a heat wave.

We have been in WI all week tending to DH's family business.  According to my BIL, it hasn't been above freezing here in the Fox Cities since November.  It has been in the single digits most of the week, with temps dipping double digits below zero at night and wind chill in the -20s.  Brutal.  And we are flying back tomorrow into DCA JUST in time for a big storm starting Wednesday night.  Funsies!  Fortunately, we will have kitties with whom we will snuggle Wednesday night when we get home!

    Stay safe, friends!

Wabbit...I agree.  The TP should always hang from the top.  That way you don't have to reach under to find the end and it tears off much easier.  However, apparently there are those among us that would attempt to argue against our position.  (:

We are heading for Florida soon.  Should miss the Atlanta problems...I hope.

I think the TP is hung the right way. The other way just disturbs me - but that's not all so difficult to do.

I like it hung the other way, but my paper towels in the kitchen, I hang that way - I think I might be a bit weird :)

Our son just rang from England in tears - his Alexander technique teacher (here in Aust) just died from Breast cancer - he wants me to go to the funeral as obviously he can't come over for it due to lack of funds etc. I said I would go as Steve is off to NZ on Friday morning. I really don't know if I can cope, but I did know her as I used to go to her for treatments years ago. It will cost me a day off work, but he really wants to be represented. I guess the right thing to do would be to abide by his wishes. I don't think he even knew she had bc, so at least I will be able to find out more for him.

Suzie, I'm glad that you can do this for you son.

I'm on the "that toilet paper is hung wrong" side.

Minus 9 and freezing fog this morning. So we don't get the ice storm but we get freezing fog - lovely.

Thanks RR - she was a very nice lady - she taught Mark Alexander technique when he was studying at the Conservatorium of Music. Both Steve and I used to see her privately.

I was so busy laughing at the cartoon, I didn't even NOTICE the paper was hung the wrong way.

Suzie - that is so kind of you to go to represent your family.  BUT, it's also SO HARD to do.  So hard.

Weather - can't remember it being such a focal point of our lives.  And so dangerous, so dangerous.  Don't know if any have friends in England, if you do, you know the problem of flooding, and HUGE rain storms happening today - newspapers saying many towns will literally be under water until May.  Can't imagine...

Meanwhile, we're now expecting well over a foot of snow tomorrow :)  Snowshoes ready - as long as there's no ice.  temp last night was 5 below, on the thermometer, no idea what wind chill was....I have well insulated windows, and there was ICE on the window sill, inside, ICE.  the mind boggles.

I'm just always happy to walk into a strange restroom and find there IS tp! Don't pay much attention to how it is hung. But I usually hang it from the front at home. When DH does it he pays no attention, so it's hit and miss.

We didn't get any snow or ice last night and it turned out that the frozen fog was lovely. The roads were ok and everything was so beautiful. We left home before sunrise and the fog was there but not so thick that you couldn't see. Every tree and chain link fence were coated with the most beautiful fluffy layer (the closer to the river the thicker the layer). I didn't have a camera with me then so the sun had burned off the fog, but the trees were still pretty well coated by the time I took this picture. Edited to fix spelling.

DH went down by the river on his way to work and emailed me this pic. Note that there's still dense fog over the river:

Beautiful pics RR! Snow and ice are so pretty, unless you're walking or driving through them.
