that's the medical oncologist recommendation but you are the one who decide if you want to TX or not. You can ask to have your oncnscore DX done and see what score you get.

And make the decision from there.

    Hi Kiran,

As Juneping pointed out, you may be eligible for the Oncotype DX test to determine whether chemotherapy will be beneficial for you. You can read more about this test on the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Oncotype DX.

    We hope this helps!

Kiran, I would definitely recommend having the Oncotype test done. Your oncologist has to order it. The test is typically done when the Oncologist needs additional information to make a decision about your treatment plan. Thankfully mine ordered it for me. I have Stage 2, Grade 1 IDC. The test is pricey but I think Genomic Labs who conducts the test will work with you about paying for the test if your insurance company doesn't cover it. Fortunately my insurance company did. I have BCBS. The test takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to come back. Mine was back in 10 days. I had a score of 11 which is low thankfully and an 8% chance of recurrence based on the fact my tumor was determined to be non-aggressive and small. I did have 33 RADS treatments and am currently taking Tamoxifen. It also provides you with additional information about your particular tumor. Definitely ask your Oncologist about it. If your score comes back in the intermediate range then its back to making the call which way to go. The purpose too is to determine what benefit you would get from chemo. We all know the SEs are horrific for some women so naturally if you can avoid it you would. Good luck. Keep us posted. Diane
