She hasn't been on in a long time and I was getting worried, so I called her.

She's doing OK (or as she said, as OK as a person on chemo can). She just needs a bit of a break from the boards right now.

She sends love to all and will be back when she's ready.

Leah

Leah, thanks for the note. Sometimes I am away for a few days and miss important things, and am not always on the same discussions with some of the women I have had the pleasure of knowing through other threads, but I sort of lose track of them, then find something has happened and I missed it. I have seen Latte on several threads and send her my best wishes for getting through chemo and for finding some moments of love and peace each day.

Thinking of you, Latte, and hoping you are finding as much comfort, ease and peace as you need each day.

    hi Everyone

I'm so sorry I disappeared and I'm glad Leah called me. It's so nice to read all these messages.

I'm basically doing well - cancer is stable, side effects are mostly under control, we have a livein au pair who helps with my daughter and general stuff round the house, and i am getting busier with life again!

I'm still on the clinical trial I started ten months ago, but they reduced all the doses and stopped one of the chemos. So now I am on carboplatin plus veliparib/placebo every three weeks. Icky side effects for about a week then not too bad. Main problem is low platelets so I end up with treatment usually every five weeks instead of three weeks. But that means an extra two weeks to feel better!

I got pet-ct results today - I have been having ct scans every nine weeks, but this is my first pet-ct in 13 months. The pet-ct shows stable bones, or even a slight improvement in some areas, with a slight increase in sternum. Suspicious areas in lungs and livers with ordinary ct do not appear to be cancer in pet-ct which is good.

So things in general are good. I am spending less time here and more time in Facebook. If you want to catch up with me on Facebook, send me a private message here and I'll give you my details.

I hope everyone is doing as well as I am or even better! I will try to slowly catch up with things on this site.

Thanks again for all your kind words!

    Latte

Great news, Latte! Also good to hear about the live in au pair to give you a break. I also had to extend most of my cycles to five weeks from three due to low blood counts. Loved the chance to feel better for longer, so know how that feels.

    Dear Latte,

I am a 46 year old teacher who's wife had breast cancer with mets to the sternum. About 7 years ago she had a lumpectomy and the middle portion of her sternum removed at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Just recently the cancer returned. It is now in one of her vertebrae and in the manubrium (upper portion of the sternum). In one of my searches, I read something about you going through the same ordeal with the manubrium. However, I was not able to read anything regarding your treatment. Perhaps I'm being lazy, as to not do more research but last night was a rough one in my house. My wife Michelle required a lot of emotional support. Would you please be so kind to share your experience with me? We are at a point of limbo with too much speculation and no solutions.

    All my best,

    Cosimo Marcantonio

Hello Cosimo, I'm sorry about your wife's situation. I wanted to let you know that you are posting on a very old thread, 2014. Latte hasn't been on the forum since 2014. You might want to start a new thread, to ask for others advice and help. Best wishes to you and your wife.

Hugs to you and wife. Indeed, as Kandy mentions, you may want to start a new topic, as this is an old topic. We are all here for you!
