Obviously it wouldn't be done on your affected side but have any of you tried acupuncture for any ailments (including lymphedema) that you may have? Was it helpful? No difference? What did you have done? On line there are mixed reviews.  And I know the needle could be put in your back, or ear, or thigh... depending on what you are having treated.

As I understand it, during acupuncture the needles are not supposed to break through the skin. A no-needle alternative would be acupressure. The same points on the body are used, but just by pressing with a finger. I've had success with treating constipation this way. I've never gone to a practitioner; I researched in books and tried it on myself. The most useful book I've found is called Acupressure's Potent Points. It's a self-care guide.

I asked my CLT about it and she seems to think it wouldn't hurt if they aren't involving your effected arm/hand. I asked about acupressure too which she is familiar with but doesn't know of any sites that would be worked on for lymphedema (like between your pointer and middle finger on pad of hand is for breathing...). There isn't a site for lymphedema. If I'm mistaken and ya all know of one, please let me know.
