I just want to thank everyone on these boards who have gotten me through my waiting....and now my diagnosis. It's my first post and it's still feeling surreal. But even though I did a lot of reading this week I felt so supported, understood and embraced. Thank you all, and I hope I can share the same comfort eventually....

Disneygirl44 - Hi and welcome!  I see from your profile that you're a DCIS diagnosis and are scheduled for a lumpectomy on 2/24/14, is that right?  (I'm really not a stalker - it's just for some weird reason your stats don't show on a thread header when you're new...don't know why.)  Anyway, let us know if you have any questions or there's anything we can do to help you get through this.  We've all been there and we know how you feel...  Please keep us posted on your progress!!!!

Hi Disney -- I am a huge Disney fan too-- my whole kitchen is Mickey Themed. I have a Mickey tattoo with my ds's name. When I told my (teenaged!!) kids about my dx-- they asked if we could go to Disney when I was all done. LOL!!!

I am new here too and even just lurking has been amazingly helpful. Good luck with your lumpectomy. Please let me know how it goes since I will be having mine a week after you.

it is nice to meet you both, AZ & faerywings (can I call you AZ 😉) ....I appreciate your willingness to share. I understand how hard that is! I have a consult Monday with oncologist and radiology/oncologist. My big concern now is the what if we find more after the lumpectomy...Faerywings, I will be in Disney World this August. Planned before all this, but it will be all the more special.  And your name inspired mine!

I wish you the best faerywings. I am a 40 year old librarian, with an 8 year old daughter and great husband. And AZ, I hope you are recovering well from your most recent surgery. Every poster here inspires me.

Disneygirl44 - You can call me whatever you want to.   If they find more after the lumpectomy, then you'll deal with that then.  One thing at a time, my dear.  You've caught this early and that's a blessing, whether you realize it yet or not.  As my dear departed grandmother used to say, 'don't borrow trouble'.

I also learned early on that it is a great idea to take someone with you
to appointments because (at least for me) my brain went into
overload and there were things they said that I missed, but my friend was able
catch.  So you might want to take someone with you to your follow up after your lumpectomy (DH?) when they give you the 411 on your pathology report.  Wishing you the very best of luck and try not to worry too much.  Please let us know how it goes!  You can do
    this!.

I met my oncologist and radiology oncologist today. Every day is a little easier...I am feeling grateful. Thank you for the pep talk, Ms AZ!

Hi Disneygirl44...just noticed we have a similar diagnosis at around the same time, so wanted to say a quick, hello.  I'm new to the discussion boards and there are so many posts to read through.  I hope you are doing well and I'm anxious to hear more about your treatment plans.  I had my lumpectomy on 2/11/14 and scheduled on Tuesday, 3/4/24 for re-excision.  Hopefully they get clear margins this time around!  Supposed to get rads in ~ a month and then tamoxifen.  Best wishes to you.

    Hi Disney,

I'm new here too, found out Tuesday.  Received the full low-down yesterday and begin the journey today.  I have a similar dx, but until I meet with Dr's next week, will hold off on the signature line.  There are a lot of area's on the pathology report to understand which makes me understand why everyone is this new world of ours is so different.

Hope you are doing well, you too cdelv66.
