Sandy-I did not have complete permanent hair loss, but the top of my hair never really grew back in completely.  I still have a couple of bald spots that I have to creatively cover.  I have to have the sides and back cut every 3 weeks and have had to for over 2 1/2 years, otherwise I would have the longest mullet in history.  The top of my hair just doesn't grow.  I am thankful for what I have, but given the choice, I may have chosen to not go with Taxotere.  Good luck in your decision :)

    Burley,

Thank you for that info. I have decided to go ahead with the taxotere. The reason: my mo said if I decided to stay on taxol she was going to reduce dose it even further yet. She has already reduced it. I feel if she reduced it further I won't get the benefit of going through all of this and it may have been for nothing which would really make me upset. So, guess I don't really have a choice but to try so I can say that I did all I could to prevent a reaccurance. If I do have permanent hair loss I will have to be more creative I guess. I am hoping that with my history of hair growth, I won't have that issue but will deal with it if it happens. It is a hard decision but would like the best chance I can at having more years with grand babies and family. Hope you are doing well.

    Take care,

    Sandy

    Hi All,

Just wanted to bump this thread and let people know taxotere is making women permanently bald.  I am almost 7 months post-chemo and still bald on the top of my head.

14 months post chemo and still bald. My doctor has since had this happen to two other women.
