I now begin the journey after hitting the "sucks to be me" lottery. Next week MRI and blood work. HMO needs to approve first!

Hi Jimmy and welcome to BCO.........and welcome to the 'sucks to be me' club not that you really wanted to join but sometimes life puts us places we'd rather not go.

The first few weeks of learning you have BC can really leave your head spinning as you get to have all sorts of tests and scans and then organise surgery and treatment.  BCO is a great place to let go of all the frustration, learn what means what and generally meet up with others walking the same walk.  There are many here who are willing and able to help get you through.

Hoping your scans etc are all good.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy

    Hey Jimmy,

Yep, sucks to be us but hey, we're alive:) I'm glad you're on top of this, and getting everything checked. There are a group of guys who post here, not as frequently as the women, but they are certainly here and they are very supportive. My dad was diagnosed with male breast cancer in 1992, and no one seemed to have a clue about mbc back then. Now the men are speaking out, thankfully, and paying attention to warning signs. Please let us know how you're doing in the coming days. You'll get through this!

    Rose.

So sorry you had to join our club....The beginning is the hardest part.  Once you have all the information and a treatment plan it somehow gets a little easier.  Sending prayers your way!

    Hi Jimmy,

While you wait for more members to respond, you may want to check out the main breastcancer.org site for some information on Male Breast Cancer.

We hope this helps, and please keep us posted.

    Best wishes,

I was diagnosed and had a mastectomy on the right side last October. Without knowing more about your situation I can only say try to stay positive and don't assume the worst.

For all the shock and fear I experienced at first, looking back I feel very lucky and am now simply being monitored - no chemo, no radiation required.

    All the best! Rik

Jimmy, welcome to manhood!  Only real men get rid of their mammory glands!  Life will be crazy for a while, but you will get through it.  Breast cancer is very treatable these days.

I am one of the lucky, unlucky ones.  I did not have to have chemo or radiation but if you have any questions I would be glad to help
