Items a patient would need whilst going through chemo/radiation

Options

My family and I are trying to put together a morning tea before my sister starts chemo/radiation.  There are around 25 ladies, and I thought it would be a nice idea to make up a hamper with vouchers and gifts that would be useful to her while having the treatment.  I have had some suggestions including day spas, massages, facials, pedicures/manicures.  Just not sure if this sort of thing would be suitable during treatment as I understand that your skin may be dry/sensitive and have heard massage may not be good, also pedicures not good due to risk of infection.  Would be great if someone with experience could advise me, and also list some items to make up the hamper.  Thanks in advance xx

blistasista, the Chemotherapy - Before, During and After forum has a long-established thread Tips (and a Shopping List) for Getting Through Chemo, where you'll find a wealth of suggestions.

Best wishes to your sister - maybe you could suggest that she join the community here for support and information as she goes through her treatments?

My doctors did not want me to have any manicures/pedicures....afraid of infection.

On the practical side....a chemo survival kit:  stuff for constipation, aleve for body aches, biotine mouthwash for the bad tastes and mouth soars, good lotion for dry skin, cute hats for head coverage, comfy pajamas or a robe,  tea, reading materials,  calming music cd's.

I would add some Chimes Ginger Chews, Wrigleys 5 Gum in Rain or Cobalt flavors (those are the only ones I could taste), Smooth Move Tea, SeaBands for Nausea, some nice rich body butter for dry skin, lemon drops for dry mouth, Biotene toothpaste, crackers and cookies to keep bedside...hmmm.......I'll keep thinking....
