How vain are you?

Love it all! You look wonderful.
-
Momine, don't see a thing wrong with the shoes. You look lovely.
Hope DD gets the position there.
-
Kay, it has a funky arrangement in front. It basically has a cut-out below the neckline and then these ties you thread through there and tie as you like.
-
Momine....looks very Downton Abby to me! You look great...you must be smashing in makeup!
I attended Look Good, Feel Better and it was a nice time and I got a lot of make up to try. Very nice people at my session! I recommend it if you have time.
Nails....I always have a regular pedicure. Living in Las Vegas, we wear a lot of sandals almost year round, so the feet are really front and center. I like a dark polish anyway and kept my toenails manicured throughout and have had no toenail issues. I used two coats of clear polish on my fingernails and it worked great for me. Did my own manucure once/week. In fact, my fingernails looked better during chemo. WTH??
I like this vain thread so much! I was one of those who carried on a normal schedule throughout my treatment and taking great care about my skin, nails, clothing, makeup was just as important part of regaining my health as the surgery, chemo and radiation. I remember days when it took me 3X longer to fix my face and dress due to fatigue and a lot of effort to smile at that skinny woman in the mirror, but I did it and glad I did.
I am even more fixated on my appearance now. Exercising every day and soon will be sporting my new pixie hairdo....which I love BTW.
I got the Maybelline age rewind concealer and love it!
Have a wonderful day of beauty ladies. Give a big smile in the mirror to your lovely reflection!
Love, MsP

Oh, momine, that's LOVELY!!!
-
Thank you, thank you! You really are the greatest
Luvmy, the shoes are oxfords, which are not usually worn with long dresses, but hey!
-
Momine - coulda been sneakers then really inappropriate. I think the oxford look goes with the long, old fashioned (and you're not old fashioned fuddyduddy) look. What did you wear in with the oxfords on? I love them.
-
Momine, beautiful picture!
-
Luvmy, LOL, the girl in the shop kept saying that the dress was meant to be relaxed and she highly encouraged wearing it with sneaks! I can't do that, however. I wear the oxfords with jeans or sometimes with everyday skirts and tights.
Yorkie, thanks!
-
lovely! I have just the perfect vintage mesh purse to go with the dress.

Bronx, I bet you do
-
"Sometimes, if someone believes in something, it works because our minds are more powerful to make it work."
This comes from that other place. All I have to say is, if only! I think all of the stage IV ladies and their fervent beliefs in wanting to be cured, as well as anyone with a serious illness. Though I wish it were true, belief doesn't do it. Belief helps us have a better outlook in many cases but it doesn't make something "work".
-
Bronx, agreed, and I have been struck by how persistent this idea is.
-
Just a heads up...It has been noted that some of my posts could be construed as "insensitive" ...
-
Melissa, you bad girl!
You know what they say in Steel Magnolias... something like, if you don't have anything nice to say, come over here and sit by me..
Momine, you are so beautiful! So beautiful with or without makeup!
-
Mellissa, What?
-
Bobo, hey now! No flirting
-
Hey Bobo! How are you?
Momine, gorgeous photo!
-
Poor Momine, she only likes it if I flirt directly with her! Momine, you are so pretty!
M, thought you were going into town? Spending some time with my most vain sisters, since I am having a pretty bad time of it here. PT, recon talk, PS issues -- all are getting pretty overwhelming. Funny that I've begged my way into the 'vain' thread -- I am being shoehorned into 'counseling' because people don't consider me vain enough since I do not want to continue with recon.
-
I have cried off all my eye makeup.
-
Ariom, thanks!
Bobo, LOL
-
Awww Bobo. I'm sorry.
-
Bobo, Are you still dealing with that? That is crazy! Forget the flirting and shit, but if you want me to kick some ass over there, lemme know. Yeah, I am scrawny, but I am mean
-
Bobo, here in Texas we find a large margarita to be good for what ails you...
-
Although I tend to blame the "Pink Ribbon Tyranny" (as I call it) for that "think positive" horsesh!t, I find that the whole "believe and it will happen" pervasiveness... triple-dipped in psycho.
Melissa... I've never had a margarita. I'll have to try one.
Momine... we'll have to start calling you "Mighty Mouse" if you get more fierce!
-
Just checking favorites while putting my face on!
What do you mean they are sending you to counseling? We have been down that nasty road before Bobo, what on earth are they thinking?
I feel for you hon, I have never experienced, or indeed, heard of such treatment of a patient or absolute disregard for their feelings or decisions.
You're so, not the one who needs the counseling!
-
Selena, you never had a margarita? I am stunned!
-
I'm not one for mixed drinks; was always a wine/champagne- and occasional beer drinker. Which brings me to another question for the vain ladies: how much have you decided (or not) to drink given the current research on alcohol and breast cancer? I, usually, limit myself to one drink per week (if I decide to drink that week), but - sometimes (like this past weekend) - I'll "splurge" and have a couple of glasses of wine/champagne.
How have you ladies decided to move forward with alcohol?
-
Bobo, this is going to sound like a dumb question, but how do they force you to counseling to NOT do something? I mean, I can see that a doc could require it before he would do surgery (although not in your case), but to refuse surgery? What are they going to do? Kidnap you & strap you down to the table?
-
Selena, I figure the cancer will be back one day whatever I do, and the evidence on alcohol is not as clear-cut as it is sometimes made out, especially not when it comes to survival AFTER bc. By this I don't mean that I just do whatever. But if I were to get mets in a few years, and I had been dry ever since DX, I would feel so cheated.
That's my excuse, and I am sticking to it
That said, I do limit alcohol, and I only really drink red wine anyway (love margaritas, but haven't had one in maybe 15 years). But "limit" usually means that I allow myself up to 3 glasses a week.
