stomach cramps with chemo

Options

Hi All,

Has anybody experienced stomach cramps during chemotherapy?  My wife is currently receiving carboplatin, taxotere, perjeta and herceptin.  Occassionally she gets cramps especially in the mornings when she has to use the restroom.  It is not constipation or diarrohea but when it comes it hurts.  Has anybody experienced this?

Thanks

wife support, my chemo regimen was different, but I did have a constant stomach ache. My oncologist suggested taking Omperazole, as it works on the excess stomach acid.

I had the same chemo drugs, minus the perjeta and yes, I did have horrible cramping for a few days after chemo.  It was my worst side effect, but let up between chemo sessions.  Hopefully, your wife will have relief between sessions.  I actually took Immodium to relieve the cramping.  I have to say, that and the metallic taste were the side effects I hated the most.

I had terrible stomach pain during chemo. First they put me on ranitidine and that helped, but with each treatment it got worse. For me, they ended up putting me on Carafate in addition to the ranitidine, and that mostly solved the problem. I would definitely make sure your wife lets her oncologist know of her troubles; there are usually many different things they can try to help control these unpleasant side effects.
