Chevyboy - my first purchase would be a '58 Chevy Impala convertible - blue with white interior - and Continental kit. Lots of teenage memories associated with that one. Next would be '55 or '56 Ford Crown Vic preferable in one of the gorgeous pastels they used in those days. Sigh

Thanks everyone for your words of encourgement. It has been another one of those days at our house.
DH left to go to the broom shop at around 9:00 AM, at 9:20 AM I got a call from a neighbor that he had a little accident. I thought OMG that he had went off the side of the mountain getting to the main road. She said that he was on the highway about a mile from our main road. I pulled on some clothes and rushed down there. When I got there, the EMT's and abulance were there. He had swerved to hit a deer that jumped out of the ditch in front of him and hit the side of the mountain. The front passenger side of the truck hit a large rock and blew out the tire, ruined the rim and may have some carriage damage. He tried to get out of the truck and when he opened his door because of the way the truck was sitting, he fell out and was caught with the seat belt. I got there about the same time as the EMT's, they cut the seat belt and cut his clothes off and did what they needed to do to stabalize him and transported to the hospital in Alpine. They took all kinds of X=Rays, He is home and doing OK, has some minor pain.
One of the EMT's on duty was our Minister Matt, I was so happy to see him, our X County Atty who also goes to our Church was there. I parked my car and walked up the road and our Sheriff was directing traffic and I said I am Ron's wife, he said I know and hugged me. Do not get that many places.
We really live in a very wonderful place and I wish all of America could be like this.
Hugs

Mommarch, Glad he's not badly hurt. Sounds like he was really lucky. He'll probably hurt worse tomorrow. Darn deer! Saw a bumper sticker on a car which had pulled to the side to let others pass: DEER THAT'S WHY. The area was a deer migration area and they were there were everywhere.
-
So sorry Momarch! Man! What else could go wrong? I'm glad he is doing better....
We were driving out by Coors one time, on this back-road, next to the Brewery, and it's all mountain and hills...... A creek runs down the hill across the road...
We saw a HUGE Buck, standing on the side of this little road... MAN, it was big! I just slowed down to nothing, and crept past him... He was so big, he could have taken out my CAR! It's just not a safe road.... especially at dusk... or ANYtime... This was at Noon that we saw him!

Good Morning
Oh Mommarch how horrible, I'm so glad U'r DH is home and safe---and like Wren said I'm sure he's going to feel worse today. U must have been beside u'rself going there to see what happened. Oh please there's nothing much u can do except help u'r DH so try and focus on that.
-
Well we're waiting for the snow--they change the forecast every hr., so in my book---yes I have a book--this means no one is sure what's going on. All trucks are sitting there waiting and so far nothing????
Oh what a goofy nite, I had a customer call, he was waiting all day for a phone call, (he called twice) so I had to stop this madness, so I I threatened my boss if he didn't call this man--now this is the turning point--I would call his Grandma and tell on him. Hey I don't have a lot of leverage here, had to use what was available--remember his grandma is my cousin and we're very close. So now I know how to get things done. I had no choice.
I showed Joey the picture of the Chevy he went beserk, he thought it was beautiful, now remember he's the kid who likes the song Just a gigolo not by Rod Stewart but by Louie Prima--and I do not let him read anything on here, just an occasional picture--so please don't think I do--this kid is making me rethink reincarnation, scary here.
I was busy yesterday a lot of people want generators, cuz this weather is being unreasonably recockulous, yes Chevy my word again.
I hope everyone has a decent weekend to relax and enjoy.
-
Cam! Are you still there? So glad Joey loved the picture!
We got about a damn FOOT of snow now! And still snowing!!! Guess that means another day IN the house! I won't drive anywhere in this weather!
And Cam, you TELL them! Get the appropriate troops out! YOU run this place! Take charge! You GO girl! Go fix that furnace yourself, damnit!
And YES, this weather IS unreasonably RECOCKULOUS! Whatever that means... Oh wait! I GET it.... Ha,HAH! Good one! Little devil you!
-
-
Chevy I cracked up called Joey in here and he was so happy and sang every single word and told me to tell u Thank you cuz he had a smile on his face. He even had his vice imitate Louie Prima in the arrangements--thanks for starting our morning with such a good feeling. MUAH xxxoooxxx
-
How funny! Yes! I turned it up for DH to listen to also! THAT woke him up! We LOVED Louis Prima and Keeley Smith!
Actually we loved the music in those days! Not so much anymore!
It's like you and I are chasing each other from one thread to the other this morning! Ha! xoxoxoxo
-
Hahahaha I know when I get done with one, I go back to the other one. I loved that era in songs even way before that time---I don't understand any words of todays songs and some I'm shocked at when I do understand. LOL yes me shocked only cus they shouldn't be in songs they are words I use everyday but don't effin sing them

“One thing we do know: Life will give you
whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How
do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you
are having at this moment.”Eckhart Tolle
-
According to the above quote....you are doing so much consciousness evolving mommarch. I an very happy that things were not worse and hope everyone and everything ( truck ) will hopefully be just fine. It is hard to tangle with deer. We are always told her not to swerve -- even though no one really wants to hit a deer --- normally you and even your vehicle do better if you do.
Well, I think sometimes honking will tend to make them turn around and go the other way....but on a mountain road?????who knows. Just glad that Dh is in one piece.
Having warmth and definite rain today. By Monday ( no matter how good things may be till then ) it sounds like we will get back to freezing temps and won't be liking what we get then. Sigh !!!! Such a winter. The real problem will be Tues. morning. That when the worst will get to our area.
Hope you all have a marvelous Saturday.
Blessings
Jackie

mommarch, hoping that your DH's discomfort passes quickly
-
Mommarch, I wish I had a huge piece of bubble wrap to wrap around your family. You've had too many bad things happen. Sooner or later you HAVE to catch a break.

-
Thank you one and all. Sandy, I will take that bubble wrap. Our minister when we were in College Station, TX used to tell me that he was praying that God would quit picking on us. We have been through alot in 44 years, but there are people who have been through worse. We fall down and get back up.
DH went to the broom shop today and made brooms, he is sore, but is OK. I went to Alpine and then went back to the shop and we stayed till 3:00. Had a few customers, it was a good day.
It was 70 here today, but high tomorrow is to be 44.
Everyone have a good evening.
-
Oh mommarch...so glad that hubby is O.K. Wow! You have had your fill of pitfalls lately. Hang in there! Surely "your turn" for bad luck is over! Hugs!
-
Good Morning Ladies,
Mommarch .... I'm so glad U'r DH is home and safe.
Today is sunny but cold. DH and I dogsat our DS and his girlfriends 3 dogs so we had 4 dogs in one house. WOW !!! They were good except the one never wanted to come in. We had to go out and trick her so we could grab her collar ( thank heavens for a fenced in yard) Today she will be on a leash when she goes out.
It snowed here from Friday afternoon until yesterday evening. Definitely ready for warmer weather.
I enjoyed the pictures of the cars and how some of you met your husbands. My DH hung out with a guy that one of my friends went with. The girls would be out on friday night and the guys would be out. We would meet them at Big Boys "Home of the Whopper" (a drive in restaurant) and eat and then all hang out together. He would ask if I needed a ride home and I would say no. I always told my girlfriend I was not ready to date him because that was who I was going to marry and I was not ready to settle down yet. They set us up as a blind date and we stayed together for three years, broke up for a while and went back together. In March we will be married for 42 years. Funny how things work out.
Are you all ready for the Super Bowl game today? I like the advertisements more than the game!
Have a great week

that's funny that in CHICAGO you have a dog that doesn't want to come in. My dog in St. Petersburg has to be tricked into going outside if the temperature falls below 70! She's also afraid of thunder, and becomes very agitated when she hears it. Usually she jumps up on my DH's lap and hides her face.
-
A wonderful realization will be the day you realize that you are unique in all the world. There is nothing that is an accident. You are a special combination for a purpose-and don't let them tell you otherwise, even if they tell you that purpose is an illusion. (Live an illusion if you have to.) You are that combination so that you can do what is essential for you to do. Don't ever believe that you have nothing to contribute. The world is an incredible unfulfilled tapestry. And only you can fulfill that tiny space that is yours.

termite/Emmy....glad you mentioned that you mainly do the Super Bowl for the ads. We have watched now and then and that is why. I have never been a big sports fan....and thankfully neither is Dh -- so have never had to be a "sports" widow with him. They do at times come out though with some really great ads. My first husband was such a sports nut he would have two different games on two televisions at the same time and something on the radio as well. For someone not caring for sports....what torture is all I can say.
Mary -- there are a lot of dogs who hate storms ( thunder ) and I'm not sure where the fear originates but I feel very sorry for the animals that do have it. There was a dog ( thank goodness they let her stay in the house mostly now ) who would run the three blocks to our house when there was a storm and if we had occasion to open the door....would run in and not go back out until after the storm. The people that owned the dog got mad at us several times and gave us some lip over it.....but I thought it was cruelty to allow that poor ( but otherwise happy-go-lucky very sweet dog ) dog to be forced to stay out in a storm. We get along fine now.....the last time I just told them....I'm only doing what you should to keep your sweet pet from getting any more neurotic. Don't know if it was what I said, or the tone of voice...but they let her stay in with them.
Hope you all have a fantastic day.
Blessings,
Jackie

Jackie, you did the right thing to tell those people to treat their dog better. Our dog is so sweet. My daughter got her from the SPCA when she was somewhere between 1 and 3 years old. Her former owners moved away and left her in a cage. The neighbor took water to her, but no food (?), and then finally called the police. She was starving and had lost most of her hair. My daughter had her for 7 years, but then had to move to a rental property that doesn't allow pets. We were happy to take her. She's so loving and good, even after having been treated so badly.
-
Our little Daschund Rosie hates the cold, I have to go out on the porch and go down the ramp so she will do her thing. She also hates the wind. If is raining or snowing, forget it.
Cold here today, need to get my rear in gear. We were going to church, but I just could not get moving again this morning, think I need to go to bed earlier.
Everyone have a good day.
-
Our first dog was terrified of thunderstorms and firecrackers. She would go into the floor of my closet. One night after we moved to Seattle, she was whining and pacing. We started wondering if she was sensing an earthquake, since some animals seem to. Finally, about 45" later, we heard the first low thunder way in the distance. It was such a spectacular thunderstorm that you can still buy photos of it. We only get thunder occasionally here.

Oh Termite I love u'r story about u and u'r DH and all the yrs together. How sweet
Well our dog does and does not like this wether when the snow is too high he has a hard time figuring out how to do his business--I don't know where he came from??? But basically he doesn't mind te snow he leaps and bounds in it, but this cold has been to cold he's like in and out. But he's funny, when he comes in stops and the door and lets u wipe his feet and I swear he says TY somehow, but he only does it for me??? I must be mean or something.
-
Jackie, I love the Leo Buscaglia quote. I needed to hear that today. I am going to copy, print, and hang it.
-
Sally, you made my day. Never know for sure when something is going to turn up with special meaning and feeling for someone here. I've loved quotes most of my life and one of the 'other' biggest reasons I stay here is that quotes just seem to put our lives in great perspectives. I'm always thrilled when I find someone has been touched by them. Glad to hear.....here's to lots and lots more.
Blessings

Oh my, still pretty cold here and icy/frosty on the ground. I think we may even get some snow later on, but not sure the way shown on the weather map. Well, the bright spot is that winter will end eventually and Spring will come. I always appreciate it, but I think I'll be doing that a little bit more after the harshness of this winter. Really been awful, but have to weather the storms.....no matter what kind or where they originate.
We have sun today so that is the bonus making some of the not so nice a whole lot more ok. Will walk again today at the Rec Center. When I watch what I eat, and walk at least 2 miles a day....I do lose weight. I'd like to get 20 or 25 more gone. The last ones always seem the hardest. I've got 22 #'s gone but didn't walk for a bit and then....it goes off in the merest of ounces....barely able to notice.
Hope its a great Monday for everyone. I was not going to watch the Bowl game but it was turned on where I work and couldn't help but notice the major upset with the Sea Hawks. I'm sure they are going to be on cloud 9 for awhile. Good for them.
Fell totally in love with the Busch commercial of the horse and dog.
See you all later.
Blessings
