I have always had a 'plethera' of cats. Only one left now and he is only 15. Friends joked that I was becoming a "cat lady" and I would always reply that they would see me on the front page of the paper being taken out by the coroner. The headline would read "Cat Lady Eaten By Her Cats" and that would be fine by me.
By the way, my declawed kitties were never biters.
-
Cyd, my cat, is declawed and has never acted aggressively towards me or anyone else. Unless you count insisting on cuddling aggressive. She, like Pip's cat, did not lose her mousing abilities along with her claws. I had cats who were not declawed and ignored lots of scratch toys and ruined some furniture. She is a strict indoor cat. I haven't noticed any inability to run up and down stairs, jump and she hasn't shown any sign of being in pain or distress.
-
-
Honestly, I think they make better scratching items for cats these days.
-
DH and I had many cats over the years, some declawed (front only) and some not - all of our cats were rescues (one was even found on the street in Singapore declawed) - one of our last foundlings we had declawed and not because of furniture destruction but because DH was severely diabetic and we would have had to have the kitten euthanized as there was no more "room at the inn" - that particular cat liked to sneak into the dog's bed and sleep the day away - he also "ate windowsills and my desk chair" he was a piece of work and weighed 16 lbs. by the time he was two - not bad for a tiny kitty that wasn't expected to live past his first 10 days. BTW he wasn't a "biter" he was a lover!
-
Haha..."he was a lover"....sometimes I wondered about two brothers relationship with their uncle!
I should mention that their was two reasonsI first looked into declawing. One of our cats had her rectum split while playing with a housemate. The other one was reaching out with her font paws as the victim was scampering away. A lot of damage done. It was shortly after that when another cat ripped her claw getting it stuck in a carpet and freaking out. I decided then that claws were for outdoor survival and if they could be humanely removed then they would be. Indoor cat evolution.
Blue...I hope you are okay and that these low pressure systems aren't making your brain go crazy. (;
-
I'm doing OK ladies. The pressure is causing all sorts of aches and pains and like Kad2kar, typing right now is my nemesis. So for now, please forgive me for not being too active. My disease has progressed and have to adjust, mentally and physically. Also helping my son plan his wedding in August...that's 3 for 3! wheeeeeeeeeeeew!
P.S. Josie is giving birth in about a month (another boy into the family), so great things happening in my life.
-
Blue...so much for keeping your stress levels low. Pull the blankets over your head and hibernate if that helps. Thanks for checking in.
-
Weddings and births.....two really great things. Sorry you are having a rocky go of it lately Blue. Hope it can all get adjusted into a good pattern for you.
Back to our un-pleasant weather...ick. Warm yesterday during the rains ( about 41 degrees ) and then overnight freezing temps. This a.m. a nice snow dusting, that stuck to the ground really well -- I'm sure there must be ice underneath here and there, and ice glaze over my whole car.....wind shield, doors, wiper blades. Nothing would open so out with the water and de-icer.
Happy SuperBowl to everyone. We don't watch here...except for the commercials. I've never been able to follow games good or understand football enough to be interested. Do watch the "Cardinals" baseball team but that is just about all for sports.
Hope you all have a good day.

Just a good reminder.
-
Jackie, speaking of commercials, have you watched the "Old Spice" commercial? Was asking my son if he wanted to use that for the Mother/Son dance for his wedding! hahahahhahaha!
-
We won't watch the game either but we will indulge in a Super Bowl comfort food meal tonight!
-
I had not seen that Blue -- very funny and close to some of the things I WISHED I could do way back when.
Though I don't think it will be on today I did see an ad that always makes me laugh. It shows a guy sitting in the bathroom and he is reading a Reader's Digest. When he is done with what he is doing....he reaches to the toilet paper roll and ( GULP ) its empty. He is sitting there thinking almost ready to tear a page out of the 'Digest'.
Then it cuts to his being in the living room, on the couch, reading his Digest again.....with his feet up on the coffee table..............missing one sock. I think I find it so hilarious because I don't think I'd have ever thought of THAT answer to the problem.

Afternoon Ladies,
It's a beautiful day .. sun is shining and it's warm. Freezing rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow. At least we got two great days out of this warm weather system. The dogs really enjoyed their walk. Tank was running around like crazy .. he thinks he saw a deer!
I worked for a few hours this morning. So far, I usually can't find the Team Lead to give me work .. not so this morning. She went a little crazy and then disappeared again and I needed some help with a particular function key. I swear these people are really disorganized.
Mr. Tim will be home soon. I just put a really nice pork loin roast in the over with all the veggies. We're going to watch the super bowl tonight and root for Manning. I think the game comes on about 6 p.m. here on the east coast. I'm betting it's a low scoring game. Best offense against best defense in the league.
Blue .. I hate that you are in pain and that the PD is progressing. It really breaks my heart. Happy to hear your son is getting married and can't wait for Josie's baby. That will make 3 grandsons for you!
Kad2kar .. You made me chuckle when I read that it took you 45 minutes to type your note. Tim gets upset with me cause I wear the letters off the keys and then he cannot type ... cause he can't see the letters. I don't need to see the letters, just the function keys.
And I am being real careful walking the dogs in this mud! I don't want to fall in it! Going to be even muddier than usual with all the rain moving in tonight and tomorrow. One section of my paths is pretty slick.
hugs to everyone,
Bren

Blue - just wish the Big They'd come up with something to help all these wonderful people with PD - keep thinking if SHOULD be coming up soon, meanwhile, I am so with you on thinking the weather & very low barometric pressure makes PAIN worse.
We are in the middle of another WEIRD almost 50 today, a few days before the expected Real Snow Storm. Totally giving up trying to "prepare" for anything. Got candles, water, and lotsa cans of food, also sterno. Meanwhile, it is now raining. Go figure.
Won't be watching football, but hope Manning does well

Bren - pork roast - hhhmmmmnnnnn, yummy. With parsley & garlic stuffed inside?
-
Hi Sunnyflowers,
I didn't stuff anything in that pork roast. Don't know how to do that. I just browned the roast in butter, garlic and herbs and then put it in a big pan with all the veggies, covered it and put it in the oven.
Ahh geez ... my temporary Team Lead just called me. I made a bad mistake. I was doing something I really didn't understand and I kept on doing it for the next four reports, until I was so frustrated I stopped and sent her an email that I needed help. I am too damn stubborn for my own good. Next time I have a question, I'm going to ask for help right away.
Am I the only one out there that is this stubborn about stopping and asking for help!! I'm the same way with everything I do ... even getting the riding mower stuck. I refuse to ask for help and keep banging my head against the wall.
hugs,
Bren

OMG .. I just read that Philip Seymour Hoffman died this morning of a heroin overdose. They found him dead this morning with the needle still stuck in his arm.
I really liked him ... thought he was a great actor. How very sad for his family.
hugs,
Bren
-
Bren - just read that online, so, so, so sad. So young, and with young children - what a waste. Tragic.
Bren - best advice I ever got, from someone who saw me trying to lift a table that was MUCH too heavy for me to lift ( even b4 major back surgery
- and I was told to try to remember: "Help is not a four letter word." Maybe ya wanna make a card of that for your desktop?Maybe......;-)))))))))
-
Just stopping by to say, "Go Hawks!"
I don't think it was even a close game...or low scoring, at least for one team...:)
Mary
-
Mary ... My team totally lost it! They got spanked big time! I got so bored by the third quarter, I got up and did something else.
hugs,
Bren
-
It was a little boring by the 3rd quarter on this end as well.

Bit of a wow factor for me....wasn't going to watch since it would be commercials only anyway....but the game was on. Can't say it was exciting or not since I don't know one play from the other, but I was amazed at the score anyhow so watched for a bit.
Loved the Busch ad. It would appeal to any animal lover I think and it got me. Almost misty eyed.
Maybe a big day for Chubs in New Jersey today. I think someone ( probably on MTP ) mentioned that the 'big' guy actually should start maybe worrying about just being able to retain the governorship. I know I would be. " Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. "
Over and over again it is proven that the 'chickens' come home to roost and so I think......( obviously I've never been so imbued ) what causes some of these people to feel so invincible. There are way too many where it is business as usual which I'm sure helps. You wonder for everything that finally leaks out somehow, how many things didn't. In the end, it just isn't worth it......ask O.J. Simpson.

Watched the rout, I mean game. Always felt the real Superbowl was between the Niners and Hawks (a much better game, by the way). After what John Elway said yesterday, I was even happier to see a blowout. Karma!
Man doesn't believe in Safety Nets and this is why he is a Republican. (Can't cut paste his words or a link.. I have a Mac.) Fine, but I'm sure taxpayers are pretty sick of paying for "for-profit" NFL stadiums, via tax breaks and bonds while the head NFL Commissioner draws an annual $30 million dollar salary, as well as some of the million dollar players and past players (like John Elway). Elway is now an Executive with the Broncos as well as their past quarterback. I think his tax supported salary also allowed him to buy a few car dealerships in retirement.
Actually, the game was interesting. How many easy ways can a Seahawk score a touchdown or a point.
-
What game?
-
I ate so many chicken wings last night I felt obligated to watch some of the game.
-
And I haven't liked Peyton Manning since he started shilling for Papa John's. You know, that fine upstanding "Christian" who lives in a mansion, yet cut his minimum wage employee's hours so he didn't have to provide health insurance under Obamacare? Yeah that guy.
I admit, I'm not much of a football fan. I probably wouldn't have even watched the game if Seattle wasn't in it. But I'm loving the sense of community that is coming along with this for Seattle.
Mary
-
Mary, you read my mind. I was going to post the same thoughts about Manning and Papa John's. I decided at the beginning of teh season that I would route for any team playing against him. Sorry Brenda. I think Manning made a poor choice in choosing Papa John's. -
So Elway's comments don't matter to you guys?
-
You mean the "I don't believe in safety nets" Elway? Another reason to be happy the Seahawks won.
-
Karma came back to bite him . I hope it hurts.
