Ahh....an early "sext" from Napoleon, how nice.

Hopefully the courier didn't read before delivery, but we know he did!

Heather, you made me laugh! And I can tell I've been on Facebook too much. I wanted to click "Like"!

Yorkiemom. Soooooo sorry your fur baby is at the Bridge.
Spookie and Kris send nose licks.

Hi ladies! This thread is cracking me up. Andrea, so surprised seeing you here!
I got my first hair cut today since chemo ended 6 months ago. I couldn't take the wispy ends anymore. It feels good now. I use Deva Curl stuff. I had a hard time finding styling product my first go around post chemo. I love the Deva Curl styling gel in the tub for my super short hair. My hair was always wavy, and got curvier the shorter it got. So the chemo curls aren't so odd to me.
Mascara. I use Blinc, the tubing kind. My lashes are still super short. I'm hoping after the next shed cycle they will get a little longer. I like Blinc because it doesn't run or flake. I wish it were more lengthening. I do like how I can really work it into my roots and it stays there.
I use body oils instead of lotions, mostly. I mix my own! I love it. My essential oil stash is slowly growing. Right now I use sweet almond oil as a base and mix in lavender EO, sweet orange EO with some tamanu oil, calendula oil and Egyptian musk oil. I use it before I dry off after my shower. I also have an organic balm I bought; I heated it up and mixed in some tamanu and calendula oils. I use that on my radiated skin.
My nails are still fine. Usually my toe nails are always painted. I'm in love with Sparitual polish. My fingernails are often one coat of sheer polish but I put some dark color on a couple weeks ago and I was loving it.

hi all- TMI alert
bobogirl- it appears I will have to answer the Brazilian questions so you are ready for Valentine's day! Make sure you tell them you have not had a full wax before- they usually ask and give a detailed explanation.
If you are going "all the way" there are no paper panties....
The first time its a little "intense" they start at the outside of your thigh/groin area- then they work on the top or area as far up as the hair is growing. Once all the traditional "bikini" area is done they move in- a full brazilian removes all hair front and back. As far as how they do the back- it really varies and you have to put your self-respect in your purse on the chair hahaha. The most modest way I have had is when they have you lay on your stomach and hold your butt cheeks apart. The most revealing is laying on your back, bend your knees and grab your ankles- for the yogis in the group think "happy baby". If you go to a good place it should not hurt even with longer and full hair- think ripping off a band-aid, quick. Some places provide numbing spray and some people take tylenol before they go but I never did that.
Just smile, make meaningless conversation and give a good tip.

Spookiesmom, thank you. We're grateful that she went peacefully at home with DH and I beside her. She was very old and very sick, probably with brain cancer. We knew it was coming, but it's still hard to be without her.
-
Yorkie, I'm so sorry. Losing a beloved dog is so hard. You are so very aware of their absence for such a long time. My last one has been gone over a year and I still catch myself starting to set the ice cream bowl down for him to lick.
-
Oh, yorkie mom and Melissa, my heart is aching for you. Sending you hugs.
Wyo, many thanks for this detailed account! You are my 'tellin' it like it is' girlfriend, aren't you!! Oh. I do not know if I can do 'happy baby' with my Australian fanny wide open. I actually have a regular person who does my (non-vagina) waxing. How could I face her again after that? Did not think about the fact that the butt area would be included. Also, have just had BMX in December and am not as brave as I usually am at the moment. I marvel at our sisters who can regularly have a Brazilian. I feel it takes such courage!
Yikes. Perhaps I should just have a bikini wax. Will that allow me to wear the panties?
-
I have to say, cider, your essential oil blends sound yummy and professional! You should go into business, I think
-
Hi Paula! I've thought about you and wondered how you were doing. How did it go at MDA? Of course we would both check out this thread. We are long time BBers, after all. It's good to see you!
-
Okay, my emotions have run a full gamut after reading the last two pages!!!! Chatty Cathys that you all are!!!
Sad for fur babies that pass on, laugh for Brazilian positions, sad for another pet lost, happy for sun damage help, sad I can't get the products here in Canada, happy that someone got rid of her dark spots, laugh at Brazilian etiquette....hehehehehhehe
We lost our last cat last summer and are still reeling. No more, I can't talk about it anymore. We always had 4 cats on the go....all different combos of black/gray and white as my DH tried to say he was allergic to cats! Found out it was just the orange and brown ones. We we in a mall and passed a pet store last fall and damn if all four of our (deceased) cats were represented in kittens!!! Couldn't possibly come from the same litter as one was white with black spots (Bogie, (one over par, 4th cat) the last to pass), one was all black (BeBop), one was gray with that M over the eyes (Booie) and one was a blend of all of the others (Benson). You can see why it was weird to see the mix of furs!! I lost it and started to cry in the mall and my DH had to take me down a "bathroom" aisle until I could control myself....sigh.
As for Brazilians, sorry, that's just way too close to my "me" parts. No one goes there but someone who's going to make me very happy, not charge me!!!
-
Tee, hee...I'm with barbe, never waxed, never gonna wax, and I swear I have to cross my legs when I even READ some of these posts...
aaaugghhhhhhhhh....no phuquing way. I ONCE used some kit to "wax" my upper lip, and it looked like a had a "duck pout" for days - and the PAIN...OH MY GAWD...the PAIN - really, can't even THINK of waxing any place - EVAH!
But then, as my last question was about 'brown spots' - you know that the next surgery I'm probably facing is for cataracts ;-)
-
cider8. Re hand made oils. Great idea, you know oil is fresh because you can smell them. One caveat. Lavender EO is estrogenic. You might wish to reconsider this choice, even though it is heavenly.
-
Ah hair, it always seems to grow in the wrong places! I have almost no hair on my arms and legs, wish the growth down under would disappear, but what's this under my nose? I've told DH if I'm ever incapacitated, he has to do something about the hairs that have sprouted up on my upper lip. Hopefully my chin won't start getting those ones that nobody seems to notice till they're an inch long!
-
BTW, I taught myself to thread my upper lip by watching YouTube videos! I'd never attempt eyebrows because of the precision shaping demands, but it's cool to watch it done.
Sunflowers, you made me laugh! Sadly, if you see some of those "reality" shows, there are women who've paid big bucks to get fillers that give them the trout pout. It is so weird to watch their lips move as they speak.
-
I am happy to find this thread since I think I am more vain now than I was before bc.
On the subject of unwanted hair I was very happy with the laser hair removal. I had my bikini area treated once and it was not painful. My hair is thick and dark which is ideal for the laser so it worked great. At first I thought it did not work because it took about two weeks for the hair to fall out. The hair that came after is much thinner and not as many. I also had my face done because I looked like a werewolf after chemo.
-
Kay, I only use about 6 drops lavender to 2 oz carrier oil. From my understanding this is a very small amount and not an estrogenic risk amount.
Andrea, I'm doing well after active treatment in Houston. I'm still in recovery mode but they say I'm NED. What more can I ask?
I get a lot of chin hairs. I have since before cancer. I saw a photo of my great grandmother at her oldest; she had quite the beard no one bothered to take care of! My mom always took care of her mom's chin hairs.
So sorry about the pet loss. I lost a cat about 4 years ago and I still catch myself missing her. She was my nap snuggler. When the kids were babies she'd hide under my bed. When I napped while the kids napped, she jump up beside me. She would have been awesome while I was going through treatment!

O.K. Couldn't resist. A bit naughty, but too funny...

Blessings that was funny.

I just got home from a cheese-making class sponsored by my area farmers market. Two very young Mennonite sisters taught it. I think this is the first time they've done it and it was very chaotic but still fun. We did mozzarella, feta & cheddar. The hipster hardware store that provided the space should have made arrangements to have the culture & rennet available for sale because now everyone wants to go home & make some but will have to order the stuff.
-
Blessings, that clip epitomizes the phrase "TOO MUCH INFORMATION!"
-
Blessings - that was hysterical! I love Mrs. Brown. Wish PBS in USA would broadcast some of it. We used to get Black Books, that was funny too. Think Mrs. Brown is probably a bit too "risque" for USA PBS audience - too bad.
LOVE the British comedies. We're getting the 6th season of Doc Martin starting tonight.
OK, BACK TO HAIR
What's the benefit to "threading" and how long does hair have to be to have it work. I just tweeze. And, understand what Andrea is saying. I've said to friends, if I ever get really sick, someone has to be my Designated Plucker. It's those chin hairs ;-))) And, I've got several chins now.
-
I tweeze between threading but eventually lose the shape of my brows. My threader is awsome and even manages to coax out a beautiful brow after I've over plucked. Fro me, threading is fast, inexpensive and less irritating than waxing as well as less messy. When I do the rest of my face at home, no sticky mess and nothing more than a cotton thread needed. Going to watch that bikini wax vid now!
-
too funny! Poor Mrs. Brown didn't know what she was in for!
Sunflowers, I know people who get their eyebrows threaded every 2-3 weeks. I can go 5-6.
Caryn
-
LOL - another hair, ah, misunderstanding - I was talking about the prickly stuff above my upper lip, which I tweeze
da brows, well, they're the same as they've been for years, except for the "newer" Andy Rooney look if I don't cut the ends...
-
I am BAD. Chortling bad. Larry is on a role, I've never read a series of such unrelated to content posts, and that's really saying something. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
-
Sunflower, some days she's more disjointed than others. I was shaking my head this morning...
-
Oh, and I have my suspicions of several things that could be the problem...
-
if you are bad, then I must join you. I have gotten to the point where I read those posts as if they were comedic pieces from some alternate reality.
