Hi Everyone,
Blue ... love the pictures! Especially the flowers in the horse's mane and the baby deer eating the flowers. Is that a real cat in that picture? How can a cat be that big???
Gumby ... holding your aunt in my thoughts. Is she doing okay?
My first day on the job yesterday was outrageous. I'm lucky if I'm making minimum wage. But I'm also grateful that I finally have a job. I had today off. My regular accounts start next Tuesday, so after that my time will be very limited, as I'm hanging onto my other clients as well. I did pretty good yesterday. Got off to a rough start. You're supposed to type 500 lines a day at 98% accuracy the first week, then it goes to 750 for week two and ending at 1,000 on week three. Well the first report I did yesterday I had a score of 74%. I knew for sure I was going to get fired!! But it got better .. I actually made 98% on a few of the reports, but only cranked out about 380 lines. It's very difficult to make your line count cause you're always having to stop and look stuff up that the training did not provide! It's a very screwy system they have. All the various account information is just randomly put in a document. It's impossible to find the information you need. Don't understand why they don't have the account specs separated by facility and doctor. Oh well ... I got a new keyboard today. I can actually see the function keys on this one! Only $13 at walmart.
hugs to all,
Bren

Blue, loved all the pics. I mention it as I had the one with the deer coming in the doorway to sample the flowers in the vase. I "stole" the other deer and put it in my Picasa. We have a lot of deer here. Just a short way down the road there is a lady who lives in her parents old farmhouse. She lets the forest area of the land stay just as it is since many, many deer rest in there while waiting to feed. I see them laying down there all the time. Have always had a huge fondness for the deer.

Jackie ... I don't let people hunt on my property, so the deer love it here. They have a few places they like to hang out and not be bothered. The only time they are unhappy is when I walk the dogs in the fields by the woods. Tank will only chase them about 20 yards, then he stops and comes back. Hahaha! I think he's afraid to get too far away from me. They also love the back yard cause I have pear and apples trees. They really do like to eat flowers ... I tried to put in a rose garden, but they ate them all. How many acres do you have? From the picture you posted a while back it looks like you have a really neat place.

Bren

I saw a cat at the TICA cat show last weekend that big. Not that fat, but that big in bone structure. I think it was in the household pet ring; not sure. It filled the whole cage and I thought it must suffer from Acromegaly.
btw, no Tonkinese cats at all and you'd think Siamese went out of style and Bengals took their place. Bengals everywhere. Saw one feisty Savannah. Loved how it was speaking it's mind and taking swats at the judge

Suzie - saw the British Blue - very nice. I've always liked the Russian Blues and these seem to maybe be the same breed, but a different color? Not sure, but I have my heart set on a Devon Rex. OMG - in person, fantastic. It was hard to speak with the breeder as everytime someone walked by they wanted to ooh and ah and ask questions. On a couple of waiting lists right now. We'll see what materializes.
-
Bren - sorry it's a rocky start, but REEEEELAX, and it will get better..good on you for going for it - and give yourself TIME to adjust to what it needs. Sounds SO stressful, but I think that will ease too as you get more used to it.
Blue - that deer nibbling flowers, is, well, so dear.
We're having a heat wave - it's gonna be 30 tomorrow! Imagine...almost high enuf to melt some snow??? Everyone, everywhere here, is complaining about feeling SO TIRED....
Read online about something called "kidney warmers" - I want polertec ones. Only see them for sale in the UK = guess we could make our own.

Bren
We are only buying two acres here but there is a lot of other territory around us which is probably not anything you could build on....in fact, on either side of us are deep drainage ravines that carry run-off to the lake behind us. So we look sort of like wide-open spaces when we actually do have a couple of neighbors on either side of the ravines....but only one on each side.
I love the privacy here. Some people who know I live out here say they would be nervous....what of, the owls. There is nothing out here to bother anyone. We have some neighbors on the next street over though we can't see them in summer. We can glimpse them in winter though. We are not truly alone, but I admit since there is not much for lighting ( we have our own dusk to dawn night lights outside ) so it could be intimidating till you get used to seeing nothing but black beyond the dim lights.

Kam - did you get to touch one? Their fur is SO soft. I'll check out what a Devon Rex looks like
Bren - keep at it - you'll be scoring 100% in no time once you get the hang of their system.
-
Kam - strange looking cat - why do you want one of those?

Morning Gal Pals,
First the weather update ... it's damn cold outside. But enough snow has melted that I can start walking the dogs again on my lunch break!
I'm logged into work and waiting for some files to download. It's kind of frustrating as they only give you about 3 files at a time ... that's about three 1 1/2 page reports. And then when you finish you have to email and request more. I waited an hour on Wednesday to receive more work after I emailed that I was ready. It seems like a slow way to get work done. Don't know how a person could make the line quotas this way. WTH ... not going to give up ... just going to keep at it!
Kam .. I have never heard of that kind of cat before. Not sure what they look like. I don't know much about cats, I thought they were all the same ... just with different colors!
Suzie .. Thanks for the pep talk ... going to stick with it and not give up.
Jackie .. Two acres is a lot to take care of. I mow about 3 1/2 acres and the rest I leave natural. My property line is along the line of where the woods and stream start. I'd mow it all down if I could, but I can't get through the HUGE blackberry shrubs. I hate those things.
big hugs to everyone,
Bren

The Devon Rex is very unusual looking but really cute I think. They have a fragile and gentle expression. And oh, those amazing ears! Me like!
-
Animal Planet website has some interesting stuff on different cat breeds. Type in "Devon Rex" and you'll see the site listed in Google.
Feeling positively balmy in Niagara this morning - temp is 1 C and no wind!
-
Carrots .. I took a second to look up the Devon Rex. Cute little cats, but they have really big ears. Apparently they also come in different colors. I saw a grey one and a white one.
We're at about 48 degrees right now. Wasn't too bad walking the dogs on my lunch break, except there is still quite a bit of snow in the fields. I saw a bunch of footprints down there and was kind of alarmed by it. Then I realized it was just kids sledding down my hill. I hope they had fun. I imagine my neighbor brought her little granddaughter down there to go sledding. I've told her she can traipse around my property whenever she wants.
Need to get an afternoon pot of coffee going and get back to work.
hugs everybody,
Bren

Kam, we buy our meat in MacDoel. Have done so for years. This time we bought a quarter and then split it with my BIL. Normally we buy more but that was all we could get this time. Because of the unknown pass conditions further north, we drove back to Weed, got back on I5 and continued north. Otherwise we probably would have continued up 97.
We appreciate all the warm thoughts of Hubby's aunt. We've not received any further info yet.
Bren, relax!! You'll do fine.
-
GG - What's the name of the ranch? Our local market gets meat from somewhere up there. Not technically organic, but the cows hooves are used for pharma, so they are kid gloved, so to speak.
Devon Rex - I'm trying to load some pics, but no luck. I wonder IF this will ever get fixed? Frustrating!
-

Above - I think this is an adult - she sort of rings all the bells for a Devon - profile, ears, ear tips, fur.
Well, that's about all I had luck linking too. They are so variable - face, color, fur. They molt too!
-

A kitten
-
Kam -- Don't count on it -- they've had plenty of time, and made a few promises too - to get us Mac users in sync with BCO. Arrgh!
-

Love this girl's face!
-
Seems as if I can do one pic at time - well not all pics, but some. Just so random.
-
They're so cute! And the fur looks curly. Here's another link of some kittens.

-
They play fetch too! This Youtube is of the white cat above:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-X-v9ggFGw
Ofcourse, I had to type above, cause us Mac users cannot cut/paste either
-
I used to be obsessed with the Bengal cat. Those Devons are just adorable though!
Just watched the video. Amazing! It acts just like a dog,
-
Apparently a lot of people are obsessed with Bengals based on that cat show I was at, Yorkie.
-
I probably would still be obsessed except DH heard that they have a lot of the wild still in them, and will sometimes attack. Not sure if I believe that. Anyway, cats are ruled out because he insists on declawing and I don't agree with that.
-
Yorkie - the Devon kittens that you posted, while very cute, are not the pinnacle - they don't have that well-defined stop to the nose. Once I saw them in person, I got it. Of course, it is all personal preference, but while the fur and big ears are what first attracted me to them, once in person, OMG, it was that face, as in the last pic I posted.
-
Declawing - why?? That's actually torturing a cat, though I don't think many people realize that. Like amputating. What possible reason would he have for that? My cats do not touch my furniture. Scratching pads are much more fun!
