Lilac.....congrats on passing! Thrilled that your husband is past active treatment. Feel better. - Claire
-
Yes, Lilac, so glad to hear that your DH is finished with active treatment and hope you get well soon!
Sunshower, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you've found a good chemo forum here too.
We walked the dogs as usual today and then I went to the gym for a full body workout on the weight machines.
-
I am at 8,000 of my 10,000 steps for the day but no gym as I'm off to LAX to pick up my friend so I should make the 10,000 for the day.
Good luck Sunshower. LB hope you are feeling better, and a big YEAH for your DH - onwards and upwards. Heidi we have some of those moves in our new Sh'bam
-
Have fun, Cheryl!
-
Crazy busy - this is the first chance I've had to catch up today and am speed reading because I've got so much else to do here at home tonight. Did 4.25 miles walk/run/walk/run/etc on the treadmill plus lower back, abs and stretching this morning.
Having trouble getting my new Fitbit setup but I've got an email response from their help desk that I hope to get through tonight.
-
First chemo session wasn't too bad. Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words...Lilac, congratulation on passing the driving test and having your DH have PEG removed...I'm a speech therapist at a local hospital and work frequently with swallowing disorders. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Everyone keep up the good work. You are inspiring!
-
Lilacblue, hope you are feeling better and DH is recovering as well.
Sunshower, glad chemo wasn't too bad today. Wish you smooth sailing thru the rest.
Cheryl, have a great time visiting with your friend.
Long frustrating day workwise but I was able to get in 30 minutes on the Elliptical plus weights before going to dinner with some friends and washing the day away with a lovely glass of Sangria.

Hehehehe @ the kitty.
Happy for you that chemo went ok Sun.
-
Love the kitty yoga pic Ruth!
I did my 60 minute group torture at the gym. It's a killer class this week (she writes as she groans and scrunches her shoulders up in a futile attempt to ease the aching muscles).......
-
Congratulations all around this morning! Lilac - congrats on your driving test (with a miserable flu!) and a special hooray for your dh getting his PEG out. And Sun - congrats on getting the first chemo under your belt.
Half hour dreadmill run after work yesterday. Half hour of Sweep N Sculpt this morning - we had under an inch of snow overnight and it was light and fluffy, so it was easier to sweep the driveway and sidewalk than to shovel. Single digits again this morning. Did someone say something about Aruba????
-
Did manage to get a walk in at lunch yesterday - boy was it cold. Started wearing my fitbit again, not back to my 10k steps a day, this weather is impossible, but hey, I joined a new gym, so I need to get my butt there and walk on the treadmill if nothing else. Snowing here today, challenging commute - if they get the roads cleared by lunchtime I'll attempt a walk.
-
Thank you so much everyone for the well wishes and we are home, DH doing fine - without that tube coming out of his stomach. I threw in the recycling bin 20 syringes for feed and very grateful to that come to an end. Sunshower, thank you for the kind offer to PM. I'm still feeling punky and lying low.
Thank you (((Everyone))) for your support.

Hello Ladies
If its OK I would like to join in. Thanks to ruthbru I have become a lot more friendly with gentle exercise and would like to start doing a bit more now.
On a happy note I have been given a massage as a birthday present and just want to check that its OK to do it - I had my lumpectomy just under 4 months ago and finished radiation a month and a bit ago. Am on Tamoxifen. I can't think of any reason not to do a massage but thought I should check.
-
Hi Bounce, glad to see you here! Is that your kitty? I am leery of massage on the affected quadrant of the body. I would make sure whomever is doing the massage knows about your situation & in that area just does a light massage.....that is just my opinion, so hopefully someone who actually knows something will chime in.
Here is my weekly Wednesday Walking picture; as you can see, we are preparing for the Olympic medal ceremonies!

-
LilacBlue: Hope you start feeling better! Congrats on passing your test. So happy for your dh!
Warrior: Glad you are feeling better. Even with my Neulasta shots, I still got sick. My WBC bottomed out to .5 (500, depending on how your lab reports it). I was one sick puppy but I got better (hospital stay, blood transfusions). I'm not telling you this to scare you but to advise you to always keep your guard up. Like my friend told me: if you get sick they'll mend you and get you right back into treatment. That's what they did for me!
Ruth: Great picture! Did ya'll take turns being on the Gold podium? Also, how is your friend doing?
Well, it finally happened! We have an inch of snow. Our first snow for the year! I just got in from my shovel & sculpt workout on the sidewalk and driveway. I'm letting the partly cloudy sun and air take care of the rest.
-
Hi Bounce! Ruth has given you good advice about your massage.
-
Welcome Bounce. I love your name.
-
Hi Bounce - Welcome!! The massage sounds like a wonderful treat. As others have said, your affected side should be treated gently. Don't do one of those heavy deep muscular massages on that side - just a soothing Swedish-type massage. Also, since you have had nodes out, you're at an increased risk for lymphedema so you don't want them to do anything to inadvertently trigger that. I'd have the masseuse treat your affected side gently, and make sure that they stroke the at-risk arm from the fingers up to the shoulder to move in the direction of draining lymphatic fluid - they should not stroke downwards from shoulder to fingers as that could push lymphatic fluid down where it could potentially pool. Also, they should stroke away from the arm pit on the affected side - not towards the affected arm pit. So when they're working on your affected side, they should stroke either across the body to nodes under the clavicle or towards the axillary nodes on the non-affected side, or down towards the inguinal nodes, located in the crease where your leg joins your body. But with those precautions, relax and enjoy!
Wonder - welcome to the Shovel & Sculpt Club!
-
Thanks for the advice. It sounds good. It's crazy that getting a wonderful gift could involve so much thought and worry!
I chose "Bounce" because I promised myself that even if I hit the floor I would bounce back.
I must say rads knocked the $%!!* out of me and it has taken time but I am finally bouncing back from the fatigue.
I pinched the kitty picture off the internet.

Well, girls, guess what happened to me on my way back to work from lunch today? Some numbskull heading the other direction turned left right in front of me and bam!!! Next thing I know I'm up in a snowbank by the BP gas station driveway, both airbags had deployed and the car was filled with noxious smokey fumes, and I'm thinking 'wha the fu jus hapnd?'

I'm fine and I think the girls are fine (I was still accelerating from a turn at a stop sign 50 yards back and it's only a 35mph speed limit). The boobs look OK but I can't really tell if they hurt because they're mostly numb all the time anyway.....lol! I'll probably be sore tomorrow but I won't know if it's from my AM workout today or the car accident!
Repair shop said the car will probably be totaled because of the double airbag deploy. Fortunately for me, I happen to work at my insurance company so getting claim service is a johnny on the spot situation.
I made it 52 and a half years without a collision so I guess my number was up.....and I was only a quarter of a mile away from home

God bless it - I don't have TIME to deal with this shit right now.......sigh
-
Sweet.....think of the nice new ride you will get out of this. But sorry it had to happen. Feel better.
No you did not need this. - Claire
-
That sucks S&S. Such a pain to deal with but I do hope physically, you suffer no ill effects.
-
Oh S&S that's NOT sweet or special. I hope it did no damage to you. The car well that can be replaced. That's a good way to ruin your week though.
I have been doing my short walks in the office and stairs. This time I did 3 flights up and down three times instead of four two times and that was tiring but not panting and nausea inducing. It's warm enough to walk outside but went to the grocery store and coat shopping instead today. My teenage son finally broke down and decided a hoodie is not warm enough!
One day I have to get to the gym to sign up. Another study today that more exercise better at preventing recurrence and death and running better than walking. Or something more vigorous than walking.
-
Oh Sweet! As previously said, the car can be replaced even if it is a pain in the @$#. Really glad you are ok....
Welcome Bounce! Great picture Ruth.
Completed 30 minutes run/walk on the treadmill after work today plus weights. And was down 1.4 lbs. at WW today. Happy dance day for me today. Now if only Spring would get here....
-
Lisa, that is crummy.....grrrrr!
Wonderland, my friend has a concussion. We didn't know it; but she has had fainting spells before, so they are doing a bunch of tests to make sure there is nothing else going on. I talked to her today & she said once she's cleared, she is going to go to the Wellness Center at the hospital; where they design your program & monitor you, which sounds like just what she needs at this time to exercise safely.
Did Zumba tonight.

-
Sweet, that is such a bummer, but glad you're OK! Sunshower, glad the first chemo treatment went alright. Mine didn't hit me hard until about day 3 afterward, but I hope you'll continue to do well.
I had a 10 hour work day, so DH walked the dogs without me while the sun was out. I did some sets of stairs at home, pushups, some stretches and took an evening walk.
-
9k walk in Sedona.
gosh, glad to hear the car was totalled and not YOU!!!!!
-
S&S how awful for you, don't they say that most accidents happen less than a mile from home. I'm glad you are okay although I'm sure you'll be sore tomorrow, those airbags are lethal, sorry about your car but that's why we have insurance. Welcome Bounce. LB I'm sure you were happy to put out that trash. Great pic Ruth, your WOW ladies seem a real fun bunch. Nihahi isn't Sedona beautiful, there are so many wonderful places to walk and places of absolute peace. Wonderland saw NC on the news brrrrr.
Did Sh'bam class this morning and Body Combat tonight, oh my Combat kicked my behind I am exhausted.
