Surreal

I am about 3 weeks out from learning that I have been dx with a recurrence of breast cancer. It's pretty crazy. You would think having gone through dx, surgery, chemo, radiation, and a year of Herceptin would make me a pro at this but I find myself once again in frightening and unfamiliar territory. I just finished my last Herceptin 7 months ago. I lost my mom to this disease. I was there for her through it all until she took her very last breath... I wish she was here to do the same for me. Love seeing all posts from other people that have posted on this discussion board. I will be having a double mastectomy. they will do another SNB and if there has been any metastasis to lymphnodes they will do the axillary dissection. Last time I had radiation to the lower axilla and breast. If this cancer did not respond to chemo, radiation, and Herceptin, and my margins were widely clear after first surgery, what are they going to do this time? Hoping for this recurrence to stay in my breast and hopefully not invasive... those are big wishes I know.
