Have a great day Bren.   Everybody is nervous the first day...you will be fine.

    Thanks so much you guys!

Sure appreciate your vote of confidence.  Training went well.  I had inadvertently received a training login on the new software platform last week, so I was able to learn the system before the training today.  Yay!  Of course I still do not have all the shortcuts memorized or the account particulars!!  But I think it's going to be a good job.  I can start tomorrow doing "pool" work, as the account I was hired for does not start until February 4th.

Another good thing is they give you 3 weeks to get up to 1,000 lines a day.  So, I guess I'll know if it's going to work out at the end of 3 weeks.  If it does, I told Mr. Tim he needs to get home during the week so we can head to the courthouse!

    hugs to all,

    Bren

Ah --- did I hear what I thought I heard -- something about a courthouse.  In that case practice typing makes perfect, Bren.

Great sun out today and thank goodness no wind.  It is fairly tolerable out at 12 degrees with sun and no wind.  I think we have a bit more of this to get through.  I'd say the winter from hell, but that place is warm so its said.  Never knew anyone that has been there though to tell me for sure.

Saw somewhere ( blurb in my in-box maybe ) that the Rethugs are saying the State of the Union speech is basically a  re-run.  Well. though I haven't read it yet....I'd have doubts.  I think it is more that he will stick to things he does not much need the GOP for since they have the track record they do.  They can continue irritating the American people while the President gets some things done.

YEAH, bren.  Sounds GOOD. MUCH deserved good news.  Try to be as relaxed as you can be, and I'll bet you'll do well.

Jackie - looking forward to SOTU tonight.  I watch it on PBS, to avoid the talking heads as much as possible.

Hope all friends in the South are staying warm, and NOT driving in icy conditions, if you're not used to it.  We're almost, almost, getting used to this cold.

Thinking of E, and hoping she's warm if still in Bean Town.

    Jackie,

Yep .. you read that right.  I should know in the next three weeks if this is going to work out.  If it does, and I think it will, I will need to get covered by Tim's insurance ASAP, as there is an income ceiling with the Medicaid I received through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program.  Thankfully, I cannot be refused on his insurance due to a pre-existing condition.  Tim called his H/R people last week to ask about this ... the coverage would be immediate as soon as he signs me up.

    hugs!

    Bren

I watched this and thought I'd share.    http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/01/28/income-inequality-debate-exposes-bernie-bachmann/  What kicks.  Kept thinking about that old commercial...."you'll wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent".  I was wondering where M. Bachmann brains went, but I know she has actually ever had any.  Sigh !!!

    P.S. Love the picture.

Watching the SOTU speech - and It's wild - Boehner's skin is darker than the President of the United States!  I think the Speaker must use Dark ManTan and TANG combined!!!  Why doesn't anyone tell him how strange he looks - really!

Wonderful speech...Boehner along with a couple of others, mainly thinking of McConnell looked a couple of times as though they just tasted a dill pickle.  The Repug Rebuttal --- very nice lady -- could probably sell Amana refrigerators and do well.

Yes, I know how I sound.  But she said nothing different, and didn't say how she would make her grand plans happen, and as usual, five years late due to obstructionism.  Ho-hum.

edit:  yes, carrots would do that.

Do they know how ridiculous they look sitting there like robots.  I think that the public would give more credence to their side if they didn't have the same deadpan look for raising taxes AND helping people with cancer get tx.

Their sullen silence just shows everyone the truth - that they oppose everything the President does, whether they previously supported it or not, just because the President does it.  Talk about a bunch of useless, overgrown, pouty babies!  "Let's make sure people can get cancer treatment!" "NO!  Treating people for cancer makes them dependent on government handouts/interferes with free market capitalism/violates the Constitution/takes away my freedom/turns us into a communist, socialist, fascist, nazi, atheist dictatorship!/BENGHAZI!/THE IRS!" What a bunch of air thieves.  Sore losers.  They are in the minority in this country and they hate it.

I wonder if Boehner really knows how funny his skin color looks? Especially sitting in the background with President Obama standing in front. Or, maybe the ooopa Lumpas are back???

Boehner's skin has been a long-standing joke. He swears he does not go to tanning booths, but just spends a lot of time in the sun golfing. Not buying it. The sun does not turn you orange. I bet he's got a home tanning booth or applies self-tanning lotions. Beats me why he would do this though.

Yorkie, so sorry to hear about Chloe.

    Been, congratulations!

Mr. Obama gave a great speech. Hubby and I listened as he drove last night.

We got some bad news yesterday. His aunt who had breast cancer a few years ago just was found to have a tumor (cancerous) in her liver. We assume it is a metastasis.  Good thoughts would be appreciated.

Yorkie - could Boehner have body dysmorphic disorder?  (Not really kidding)

GG - sorry about your aunt.  I'm waiting to hear of a cousin's breast biopsy.  We're a brca family, but she declined to get tested.  Not a great segue, but go Sherman.  I'll root for the Seahawks, since the 49ers were a very close second to them.

SOTU - Did anyone see the post SOTU interview with Rep Michael Grimm.  He's being investigated for campaign finance issues and was asked about it.  After the interview was over, the camera kept rolling and he threatened to f***ing throw the reporter off the balcony (they were in the Capital Rotunda) the told the reporter he wasn't man enough...."I'll break you in half.  Like a boy."

Kam, the drive through California was sobering. I've NEVER seen it so terribly dry.  Normally it's so green this time of year.  We drove through hours of rain in northern Cal / southern Ore (pretty much from Weed to Cottage Grove).  I hope the jet stream moves soon to let the rain reach the rest of the state.

Did you drive through today as today is the first rain we've seen in January, and only 3rd day of rain this season, and one of those, including this one, is just a drizzle!  I just got done walking.  Not only is this rain light, it is particularly warm for January.  Did you spend the night in Weed??

yesterday we drove from Stockton to Eugene.  We picked up some meat in MacDoel.  The rain started as drizzle a bit north of Weed increasing markedly as we moved into Oregon.  Yes, quite warm for this time of year... spectacularly so when you think of how high we were!!

GG - I had to ponder the part about "how high you were."  Took me a second :)  Meat in MacDoel?  Were you buying a cow?  That's kind of off the road from Weed to Eugene unless you crossed back over the Cascades somewhere north of MacDoel?

The mountain got snow, but just a drizzle here in inhabited areas.  Not sure it's enough to even avoid watering my plants again.

Did you notice the difference in gas prices between my locale and Oregon?  My gosh...$0.80 a gallon if you go to Costco for gas in Oregon ($2.99 for gas).  We are paying $3.79.   I got an app for finding the gas prices for nearest stations.  At Cottage Grove, it was 1/4 mile into town from the readily available stations next to I-5.  The difference was $0.20 a gallon.  Love that app.

Sun and a little warmth today but we won't notice as well due to the biting wind.  At least it is not total deep freeze.  Few issues turning up in the Christie ( how I watched over Sandy funds while they built a whole large development having nothing to do with Sandy's destruction ) pages.  Nice to move away from SOTU since Pres. had a great speech and the rest were the same  "lost in time somewhere" Repug realities.  Always so strange ( even though I read why before ) that enough of them don't get the out of tune and really out of touch spot they are in all the time.

I did hear California will get some moisture soon.  Sure hope so.    We will get some as well.....could be rain with a bit of snow in it from the upper atmosphere as the temps will not be nearly as cold as they have been.  At least my car is reasonably clean.  If too much weather I'll be going to the car wash for mud....not road chemicals.
