Everytime I think I miss "home" in New England, I just have to read here and remember that I don't like to shovel, scrape, fall, or be very cold.  Do they use the term black ice?  We have a cabin halfway between Seattle and Yakima, in Cle Elum.  However, when we arrive, the community is plowed and the walks are shoveled as part of homeowner dues.

I think I will speak to him first and if i feel like he gets it, I'll leave it there.  He has always been nice, so I expect a good response but if not, if he dares get snarky with me, off to the owner I go.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much - I have been lurking.  Between problems with DDIL (first D is insincere), my DD's surgery and then hospitalization and then our pathetic and lonely holidays, I lost my way and when things are a bummer, I'm sure you all don't need to hear it.  Digging my way out and I'm back and determined to bring life back to our formerly perfect little thread.

Diane, Hmmmmm that's a tough call about the money.  Remember he had to make change before he could put it in the tip jar....but i wonder if the register was really broken.  I don't like to admit this but my son worked at a pharmacy and the guy who trained him showed him how to get a few dollars by not entering everything in the register...one of the customers told the owner to just keep an eye on his register guys....and sure enough it hit the fan.  We got a call from the owner (small town) and had to pick DS up, jobless, of course.  In this case I don't know if you should have talked to the owner or the boy.
Sometimes it's a relief when the holidays are over and normalcy returns....like a clean sweep.  I hope the new year brings lots of happy memories for everyone..

Yes, black ice here.  we have a lot of asphalt roads, which is why they called it black ice - invisible on the dark road.  I do not mind driving in snow.  And my SUV was great on the snow-covered highway,  I also mostly fear other cars.  At the college there are always kids who have never driven in snow.  What a circus.

Ducky, I just looked out the window to see if we got the added snow - not yet - but there are deer tracks to the rhodedendron - they have destroyed the plants in a few days.  We planned to wrap them and never did.  I sprayed liquid fence before the snow but I guess it washed off.  I hope the defoliated shrubs survive.  or maybe not if they will look awful.
    Time for sleep....

Joan - I hope the rhodies aren't in the new area you were doing? I love my deep purple rhodies and azaleas.  As for the young man, he never opened the register - it was only a split second before I turned around.

    Ducky - thank you :)

You ALL will be hearing from me in mid-late Feb when DDIL is visiting but I get to see MY BABIES.  Who cares about her :) Thinking I'll call for some anxiety pills for that period!!!!

Weird that I never recall hearing black ice on the east coast.

Chris - I need one of your stories, pronto.

I found out that if HER family sends pink and ruffles and girly things, it is ok - those rules are only for me :)  I'm with you - follow the stupid rules and act like I've never given birth or raised a kid before.

No idea how to post pics on here - no matter how many times you tell me, I'm a failure.  Will put a few on my FB page :)

Sheila.........wow love seeing you back here..........2 of my favorite people......life is good...........

I have 18 grandchildren, of course they range from 30 down to 13, but guess what........I had that same shit at times.....mostly with my sons wives...........especially the 1st grandchildren.......identical twin girls.......my DIL, was a real bitch, and I could not have been better to her, even offered to watch them so she could go back to work.......guess who became a "stay at home Mom".....lol rather then let me take care of them...........

Lived 15 minutes from them, but never saw the babies.....would have to invite them for Sunday dinner to see them, and then when I could sit down and hold the babies after dinner and cleaning up, she would say "ok, let's go, they have to go to bed".......finally thought.........."your an idiot", and stopped inviting them

Less then 1 1/2 years later both my daughters had babies.....they lived within 5 minutes of my house....they would bring the babies to my house ..had them all the time...they were born 1 week apart.....a boy, and a girl....we use to call them "twin cousins"....................how things changed........the jealousy began with my DIL, and I was accused of having favorites, so you see there is no winning here.....my one daughter asked me if I could watch my grandson, so she could go back to work to get her 10 years to be vested, and I did, then she had another boy , and I watched him for 2 years till she retired..............

Amazing, when my DIL, no longer had to hold her kids over my head, she tried pushing them on me............bottom line is......my son allowed this.....he was just as much to blame....nothing stopping him from bringing them to my house.....funny thing is.........her mother always got to see the kids......almost daily........several years ago her and her mother had a huge fight.......till today they don't talk........guess who is "super Mom" now.............but I am a forgiving person, and her and I are good friends.......

This is very long, and rambling, but just want you to know you are not alone.....this crap happens more then you know........and you don't have to be 5 minutes away, or across and ocean......some people are just like that........

So nice to talk to you both............hugs, and don't be strangers....love you guys......

Okay - I posted a video and a picture on FB....

Ducky - it is awesome to know I am not alone.  Here in politically correct Seattle, I'm sure it's true for some but nobody would ever admit it.  The biggest thing I miss from the east coast - brutal honesty.

Did I just see you have anther storm coming?

Chris? Deb? Sandy?  TOL sisters? Come back...

Rain.......my brutal honestly gets me in trouble........with me you know where you stand right off the bat.......if I like you......I love you..........if I don't, and I'm human.....I don't like everyone, you will know that too..........not a phony......have never been .......will never be.......for instance.

    LOL......if my kids do something like.........get a new hairdo..........and I see them.......if I say "oh I love it"......trust me......I do..........if I say nothing......they will say........."Oh Mommy must not like my new hairdo...she didn't say anything"..........LOL........will never lie to you.......just say nothing is my motto......

Yes we do have another one coming.......not as much (at least that is what they are saying) about 3 inches on top of the 14 in my front and back yard........the brutal cold is suppose to last for another week and 1/2........m heat has not shut off......and I mean not shut off........I have it on 70, and the house is anything but toasty......but at least I have heat........some in N.J. are without.......

Trying to figure out what is wrong with my FB......when I click on the icon, it comes on for about about a minute and the goes off.....ugh

ducky - when something like that happens with my FB or my computer, my DS's rules are to sign out, wait ten seconds and sign back in - first just in the problem application and if that doesn't work, then the computer. I'm not allowed to call for help until I've done those things and it works, often!

I'm brutally honest too and in much the same way as you.  But my dearest friends, well we never just say nothing.  One of my closest wears ugly glasses and said she was going to get new ones.  I asked if she wanted me to go with her.  She said no, she was good.  I told her to ask for somebody in particular.  She texted me while there and said that person wasn't in and so she was working with Jim.  He's the worst so i jumped in the car and went there, just a few blocks. There she is ready to pay for the ugliest lavender eye frames ever.  She put them on and asked what I thought.  So I told her - you never wear pastels, what will they go with, and they are too small.  Jim was not happy to start over.  She picked up her new "funky" and fun frames yesterday and called me to say how happy she was.  I said great, then I'm glad I came.  She said, well you are due for a little tit for tat on this one.  I asked what is it I need to change. She (Miss Skinny) told me that I wear too much black and that she knew I thought it made me thinner but that really it was just boring and harsh on me.  So, she is right I know.  I have to get a colorful top by next Wednesday.  Now that feels normal to me....

Okay, I have cleaning people once a month - today!  I have to clean for the cleaners.  TTYL

Actually, it's been a strange week.  On Mondays, our trash is collected (the job of DH).  Monday at around 5 I left to run to the store, backed out of the garage and smashed into my husbands car.  Both cars damaged.  I  didn't know he was home, he had wheeled the trash cans to the back and came to the fence gate just in time to see what I did.  He picked up his car yesterday and I went today to leave mine to the tune of $1900.  After getting that stunning number, I was in a bit of a stupor and walked back out to my car on a stone path.  I tripped on the edge of a stepping stone and took quite a tumble.  I currently have ice on my left knee, left foot, and right shoulder. And those little gravel marks on the palms of my hands.  I've downed some Advil and am hoping that it is just painful, not serious. It hurts to walk so I'll probably be on here for hours :)

Rain......OMG......you poor thing............honestly I feel bad for you, but good Lord, I can't imagine the look on both your faces when you smashed into his car.......OMG.......that was an OH SHIT moment........

Now the fall is bad.....just take it easy, not that you can do otherwise......if anything really hurts maybe you should check yourself out........falling is what I do best........I tell my kids all the time "my death will be from a fall"............they say "yea,, cause your so damn clumsy, and rush around like a fool"......and they are right, so how do you argue with that point........

I'll be here.......can't go anywhere, car doors are still frozen shut....LOL.......and the cold is not going anywhere either...........hugs.

I just heard a big loud F-Bomb and looked right - his face was kind of purplish.

Still icing, took the advil, I don't see a lot of swelling - that's good.

Cars doors being frozen - one of my worst memories.  Holding a newborn, a 3 year old slipping and sliding and a lighter in my hand trying to thaw out locks.  Yuk!

Rain........I know we should not laugh......but I am having a visual , and I have the horrible habit of laughing when someone trips, falls, or has an Oh Shit moment.............had so many myself.......one time we painted our back door "steel plate steps"..........well the idiot salesman forgot to put sand in the paint....my son painted them, and that night it got very foggy.................the next morning I was going with my husband (alive then), for a Dr. appt. he had........he was sitting in the truck waiting for me, and I came out the door.......had sneakers on......hit the first step, slid from the 2nd step on my ass never missing a step all the way down.............flailing, and grabbing for the wall and railing all the way to the bottom.

Husband gets out of the truck.......gives me that WTF look, and says..........What did you just do...............now that was a STFU moment, only I did not spell it......I shouted it, and proceeded it with.........I always go down the steps like this you asshole............I was soaked all over my ass, and then he followed it up with ...............why are you going back inside.....I'm going to be late for my appt.........

My final word to him was.......don't talk to me, don't say another word, or your gonna need the ER, and not an MD.....................when my husband told the kids........they had to leave the room cause they were all laughing.............I was 10 shades of purple for 2 weeks......and could not get out of bed the next day...........

Oh and yea.........he said when I got into the truck............well I guess we won't be going to the shore this weekend ....huh..........again I told him to STFU and drive.................

Hey Ducky, good thing you outlived him or there would have been nobody to tell him to STFU and husbands need that :)

I really am clutzy, darn good thing I am not named Grace.  And when I fell, there was nothing ladylike about it either.

DH: had to run up to meet a repairman at our cabin today and is coming back in the morning.  I just told him to make it after 9 and with a latte.  Since I have an injury, I've decided to go all diva on him.

I am off to bed early cause the bed is mine, all mine.  And I can watch tv in bed, whatever I want.  Yay!

OMG first things first....I apologize for LMAO...I know it's not funny, but you can't write this stuff.
Nice distraction from the fender-bender, becoming a patient....ouch, those bills must have hurt as much as the fall.  Feel better.  I know what you mean about having the whole bed and staying up to watch tv - falling asleep with it on, even?  Dh has been really sick for over 10 days and I'm in the girlie guest room with the creamy furniture and big tv...I love it.  I'm still fighting sinus block, so if I wake up, I read or go online; then drift back to sleep.

Diane, just so you know. BCO has changed the nightmare picture posting.  It is so easy now.  If it's one of your pics on your computer, you hit "browse" and select the photo.  If it's on the internet somehwere, you hit link and it posts the image by link.  It works and anybody can do it

I love your "girlfriend check" - I wear black all the time and went out and bought color...then gained a few pounds so I have a colorful closet and still black on me.
Ducky you are right about family situations - they do change.  And it is always (to me) about the little ones so we tolerate what we can.
You just reminded me...cleaners come Tuesday (bi weekly - DH hates it and says if I die first they go).  Since I have night class on Monday, I have to clean tomorrow for the cleaners.  Always.  I get stressed and knock myself out because I always work the night before.  Sometimes I just move stuff to the smallest guest room and tell them it doesn't need cleaning in there.

Sheila, wow, you've learned fast to tread lightly with the daughters.  I got knocked down so many times I finally am learning to zip my mouth unless they ask.  Out of 7 grandkids, only one natural birth and 6 c-secs.  No comment, except some of them were truly justified (2 breech and 2 'cause daughter has staples in her colon); my other daughter only has 1 lung from birth so her ob treated her as high risk - not considering my DD was a cheerleader for 6 years and ran the track every day.
    Oops, ramble....

Windy here, right Sheila?  but warming up today almost to the freezing/melting point.  then the arctic plunge.
Sheila, wishing you the very very best most wonderful visit with your beautiful daughters.  What a happy time...take your cold meds and go party!

Hey Joan......waiting for the 1-3 inches of snow we are getting today.....this is ridiculous......one of the ladies asked me if I drive in this type of weather......well once the roads are good I do, but at this point my car doors are frozen shut, and I can't get them open to get in the damn car to drive.........

Right now I have 1 more roll of paper towels left..........and 2 rolls of toilet paper.......now that is not good......LOL......plenty of food......but nothing I want to eat........plenty of stuff for homemade soup which sound  delish, but...............I make such a big pot, and no one to give it to cause my kids have not come near the house............plus the freezer is full too............so I have to cut down to real dish towels, and from 7 sheets of toilet paper to 3 1/2 per sitting........LOL......

I can't wait for Spring, Summer, and my shore home and pool.........have no idea what is happening down there.......I am sure if we pulled the safety cover off, we could ice skate.....scared to even think about it........they had this lousy weather too.....

Rain.....hope your feeling better today , and hope you enjoyed your "alone bed time", and you wake up to a nice hot Latte.............MILK THIS HONEY............LOL

Oh dear - I am having visions of Ducky in the loo faced with using dishtowels.  Making it go away!

8:30 and i am in bed with a cup of coffee and really enjoying the solitude. My knee seems fairly ok, my foot not so much.  The worst thing is that the reason I woke is that my right hand and fingers are tingling and I'm afraid that is from the fall too.  Spending time in here, I am reminded that all my decor (carpets to bedding) has been chosen to accommodate the dog!!!  Cooper, the golden retriever.  I vow that after this dog, I will have decor that I actually really like, not something chosen just because of it's camouflaging properties.

Thinking I might limp out to the car (yes the one with the damage) and go to the drive thru Starbucks in my pajama's.  I don't think I can stand long enough to make breakfast. :)  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Rain......I think you better be checked out.......once I tripped and fell down my daughter's inside steps...........my foot twisted in such a way, I thought I had done damage...........well it got bruised, swelled some, and hurt..........after a couple days I could put weight on it, so said "the hell with it,its probably nothing"..........guess what today that area that twisted near the side of my right ankle hurts like hell many days...........now I am thinking....fracture, or chipped bone that healed.......hurts even now.

If you hit your arm, or elbow, that could be the cause of the tingling......maybe you should get yourself checked out.......I know ER's are a pain in the ass, but probably your best bet, unless you can wait till Monday and call your PCP.....for the time being...........STAY OFF IT.........

I will get checked on Monday if it still is problematic :)  DH finally on his way back from the cabin.  He called to tell me that we need to go to Costco this afternoon.  Hell no - not marching around Costco but it's a little scary to send just him. He might remember the coffee and items on my list but will still come home with random stuff like anchovies and marshmallows.

Just talked to my two year old GD.  I told her I coudn't wait for her visit so we could snuggle and cuddle and read books.  Was informed that creating such anticipation is problematic.  God forbid.

It is a stunningly beautiful day here - sunny, 50, blue skies.  Days like this at this time of year make me really appreciate the Emerald City.

See now me, I would call her and ask what books she wants you to read, so you can get them in case you don't have them at your house........how can one person be so insensitive......
