Tamoxifen side effects

Hello,

I had posted earlier this week and I have decided to rephrase my question today.  I was diagnosed with DCIS stage -0- and had 33 rounds of radiation.  I have taken tamoxifen for 5 years.  Although it has been said that it is recommended that a patient may benefit from staying on tamoxifen for 10 years, I will not be doing that.  I have discussed this with my oncologist.  

This topic is rarely ever discussed, but I want to know what kind of side effects did any of you have after you stopped taking tamoxifen and how long did the side effects persist?

    taakre - I am still on tamoxifen but my sister in law reached the 5 year mark last year and was taken off the drug. So far she hasn't had any issues. Did you have a lot of SEs with Tamoxifen? I have the weight gain, hot flashes, sleepless nights....diane

    HI Diane,

    I have had all the side effects, pain in my bones, hot flashes, weight gain, sleepless nights, and endometrial thickening.  I am so excited to stop taking it! 

    I have heard that some have major mood swings & depression, breast soreness (which is my worst fear because that makes me nuts) and a lot of weepiness. 

    I know its a topic that most people don't talk about.
