I would like to acknowledge the BCO community in general!
I have been coming here a lot lately, particularly since I was diagnosed with DCIS. I am blown away by the collective knowledge of this community. Many of the women (and men) here are more up on the latest information than doctors are! I am truly amazed at the collection of research and thoughtful discourse I read on these boards each day. One of them most amazing online communities I have ever seen is this one.
The fact that you can go to specific forums for your exact type of cancer in many instances is very helpful and saves time from wading through everything if your time is limited. The compassion of the members is even more important as most of us come here when we are in the frightened stages of waiting for test results or just diagnosed.
Kudos to the BCO community. All of you are amazing and I just wanted to say that. I checked out a few other BC sites and they don't compare for me. The format here is less confusing as well.
The actual BCO site (not just the community) is FILLED with up to date information and it has helped me to understand so much about this disease. As intelligent as I though I was before getting that Birads 4 mammo, I had NOT a CLUE that BC was not just BC! I thought it was ONE disease and I also thought it was likely a death sentence or at best, you could buy time after surgery with chemo and/or rads.
Amazing job BCO community. Kudos! You rock!

Oh my gosh, I agree as I I have found this IS THE BEST online site for information! I have had several people ask me questions about my cancer journey, when either they get diagnosed or a family member gets diagnosed. I tell them I will share my experience but I ALWAYS send them here to this site, telling them that the discussion board is great for getting SO much information and support from others going through the same thing, but also, I always point out to them to read, really read, the main information that the staff posts. The information is always up to date and so informative, it's information that they can trust and it gives them the knoweldge to know what questions to ask of their own doctor.

I totally agree!! BCO is the best site online for the most up to date and educational information. The compassion and understanding from all the members is top notch! I am so greateful I stumbled upon this site after my diagnosis when I was still in panic mode and thought I had a very limited amount of time left. This site has and continues to help me tremendously get through each day!

This site is the best!

Thanks you, April, for taking the time to acknowledge the tremendous value of this community!!

April,
Yes! I am in total agreement. This has been a lifeline for me and a place to go where my problems and emotions are understood. You go, BCO!

"Lifeline" is the word that comes to my mind as well. Thank you everyone!

BCO has been a wonderful source of information! A place where I could go when I could not sleep. A place I could turn to, to find answers from people just like me, at every stage of my journey. It's like a friend who always is there, to listen and offer encouragement. I know I have come to this site multiple times a day, every day, in the past 8 months and each time I have gained knowledge and understanding from wonderful people who are so willing to share. This site has truly been a life saver for me both mentally and emotionally. Those first very dark hours before and after diagnosis were rough and somehow (Google, I imagine!)I thankfully found my way here. It IS the absolute best site!!! I continue to use it and learn. Thank you to the people who had the foresight to create and organize BCO. I find the website very easy to use.I love you!

Hi Everyone, this is my first post but I have been a constant visitor on this site since my dx August 7th this year.
I must say that you have all saved me - totally. You have my most heartfelt thanks. Every time it all gets too much to bear, I click on this site and everything comes back into perspective.
I am inspired to read the posts and the support that is given, so freely, to every member, brings me to tears. But also I can smile again.
I would also like to say that I totally agree with every word Awmathtchr has written, who has put it so much better than I could!
I am looking forward to reading of more milestones and achievements - and hopefully adding a few of my own.
Bless you all,
love Tasha

Thank you all for your comments about this wonderful community, and about BCO!
Just in case you didn't see this new Moderator announcement, there's a chance to put your first names and faces to the good you have to say about what you experience here on the site and in the forums - and help BCO at the same time!

I couldn't agree more!
I have learned so much, met great people and continue to keep myself informed as I go forward.
Thank you to everyone!
-
I don't know how I would have made it through my DX in the last 15 months without BCO. Thank You...

I could not agree more. Even as a medical doctor i enjoy going through the posts on the BCO website.Knowledge is vast there are so many things you learn form friends, clients and patients.
The fight for breast cancer is not only a justice , ethical or moral reason it is also a poverty alleviation effort. Living in Nigeria and seeing how many families have to go through to pay out of their pockets for cancer care, loosing wives, mothers and daughters who are the psychological and socioeconomic source and stability to their families and the nation made me so passionate to fight cancer.I find this website highly educative and will pass the address to the literate and interested women and breast cancer positive women i come across in our breast and cervical cancer awareness campaigns and mass screening programs we are organizing in Nigeria.
Thank you

Mods ... I love BCO and I'm not shy about singing the website's praises! I have made so many, many wonderful friends over the years and have been blessed to meet many in person. It's so neat when we can all get together!

Hey,
Anyone want to help us out with our Valentine's campaign to raise funds for the community?! We'd need a few sentences and photos and you could be our poster child. If you wouldn't mind, just PM us, and we can provide details.
Thanks so much!
Melissa -
Melissa ... I would love to help out, but I think I've already sent you most of the pictures I have from numerous get togethers. Can you use any of those photos or would you like me to try and find some more?
Let me know if you want me to locate more pictures. I think it would be neat to be a poster child!
hugs,
Bren

I can't begin to thank BCO for helping me thru this second occurrence of BC! The longest night I ever had was my first DX back in 1996 - when we didn't have the Internet to help. I didn't arrive home still late in the afternoon, was awake ALL night waiting for 5 AM here on the West Coast, 8 AM on the East Coast when I could call NIH - to send me info, via snail mail, and the long wait to get info in the mail. Got assistance thru ACS, but it was nothing in comparison to BCO. Here, there is always someone ready to provide support, any time of day.
A "thank you" seems so insufficient to explain how grateful I am.

Thank you, Bren. I'll PM you. Also, Maddy, I'm going to PM you too
