DIEP 2014

Ha, well it seems all I really needed was to get the conversation started. I have gone twice today and the 2nd time was quite normal! Yippee!
-
Only on a BC thread could people appreciate the importance of your last post, Beebop................
-
The side that has my drain was quite swollen for several days after surgery, but I have noticed it has gone down considerably. The color of the drainage is a reddish color that appears healthy, and the same color as the drains that came out at post op. I am at 11 days today.
I have thought about wearing spanx instead of the dreaded binder. I may go to the store and check it out tomorrow.
Beebop - the Mirilax and Colace worked great for me
-
Beehop- I chuckled when I read your post. We have all been there. It was not a good experience for me, but relief when it did. Ha Ha!
I had to be less than 20cc for three days in a row. I hated those things, but don't remove them too soon. It won't be long and they will be out.
-
By the way, Curly ... I have been using those pads they sent me home with as a barrier between the binder. It has worked well, but added more bulk. I look forward to trying the spanx.
I do have a lot of support, and my son has been helping me, too. I had so many visitors today, I am way tuckered out
I don't like how these doctors are all telling us different things ... you know?
-
Movie, isn't that the truth!
Maggie, how is your volume in the drain. Mine has gone down quite a bit so I expect to get it out on Tuesday at my next appointment. I'll be so glad to be rid of it.
-
Bee, my daily drain volume is about 60 CCs, but I have not been laying down all day. I've been trying to move around and walk, etc, to get stronger, so I expect more volume. Dr. Sullivan said it should probably go down enough this week to come out. Trust me, I don't want a problem, so I will wait until its time. Since the swelling has gone down so much, maybe the drainage is coming to an end soon, too. I think if I find the spanx tolerable, I'll wear it for 2-3 weeks, or for as long as doctor says.

There are a lot of ladies having surgery this week. Hugs and prayers to all. Sending positive healing energy your way.
-
I second Zenful's post!
-
You got this ladies in "surgery waiting mode" for this week. Please check in when you can and let us know how you are...

I have been impatiently waiting for the longest time that my surgery would be here NOW! However, now that reality is - it is this Friday, I am kind of wishing it was many months away!
I will be anxious to hear from the other girls that are early in the week, to hear their experiences. I hope that they all do well.
Planning to go to the gym Mon - Thurs this week. I have been doing 1 hour of cardio 5-6x a week to try and be in the best possible shape. I think I have done all that I can do at this point - 9 mos out from chemo, lost 40 lbs - am at an ideal weight, totally revamped my diet, exercise all the time & am in great physical shape - my resting pulse is in the mid 40's. Now, it is just up to my surgical team to work their magic!
-
4 more days of wearing a breast prosthesis! Yahoo! I have been counting down.

Donna- It was the best feeling to put those prosthetics away for, hopefully the last time on the morning of surgery!
-
good luck Jenjen, you will do fantastic!
I was finally able to "go" today an all seemed normal. I have been drinkinglots of water which is helping. Hoping drains can come out tomorrow.
-

Good luck, ladies. JenJen and Beck, I believe you are going first? It's all going to go great, and we are all routing for you!!!!!
-
bluewillows, Why not try Mayo Clinic in Rochester? See if they take your insurance.
I had such positive feedback from my sisters on this site about my surgeon.
Let me know if I can help. My surgery is February 11, 2014.
-
BellaMomma: Rochester ??? what state?
-
Ditto on the good luck for everyone this week - including me - nice to know I'm not the only one going through this and will have people to talk to about it on the other side of surgery.
Otherwise doing ok, will be very busy at work over the next couple of days so hopefully will keep my mind off it. May freak out sometime Wednesday for the final count down!
-
bluewillows, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
I grew up in Southwestern Michigan and Mayo Clinic has a great reputation. I went to NOLA for a consult, great doctors but they didn't take my insurance. They were out of network.
I believe Dr. Saint-Cyr and Dr. LeMaine have great reputations. Hope this helps!
-
All the very best to this week's surgery ladies! May you sail through without any hiccups, heal without pain and poop when needed!
-
I'm worried about my belly button. It has been black since the surgery. This morning I noticed it is red all around. Ugghhh....I know this means infection.. Now what?
-
Good luck to everyone having surgery this week. Wishing you minimal pain, healthy flaps and no complications.
Beebop - probably time for a call to your surgeons office - do you have a fever?
Ridley
-
Beebop, get thee to a doctor!
Got my first revision date - Can you add me the list, jmb? March 3rd. PS is going to make my crop circles a bit smaller which she says will make my noobs more rounded, and she'll lipo a bit of side boobage on leftie. Nips are tentatively set for June 23rd, but that needs to be confirmed, and I have no idea if she has any plans for my belly scar...
-
BELLAMOMMA: thank you for the information. Ill have to see how far I am from there. My partner drives semi truck and is gone on weekdays. If I had to do a bunch of trips there and am unable to drive after the surgery I would not have anyone to get me there for followups. SO that would be a problem....but ill check to see how far I am anyway.
-
Ridley, no fever. I am scheduled to see PS tomorrow. Maybe I'll give a call today in case he wants to see me earlier.
-
Good luck to everyone this week! We will be here waiting for you.
-
Beebop
I would take a pic and send it to your PS. That way he will know if it's an emergency, or not. Don't let them make you wait all day. There is always somebody who can take a look for you. The problem is these surgeons are always in surgery. Personally, I don't know how they do it.
Lahela
March 3 was supposed to be my diep date, but I changed it. It's a good date. I hope it is lucky for you. You have come so far. It seems like just yesterday you were dealing with the tunnel and painful drainage procedures.
