Starting Chemo in December 2013

I had a metal tracer put in post-biopsy but they could not find it with they did post US....so if my tumor shrinks will they still be able to find it?
Beths 1 I will be happy when I get past the 4th round...at least I know I am half way there but I am hoping when I finally get a check up from the oncologist and she sees how much my tumor shrunk that I won't need the rest. Although I am hoping that I also know I am a triple negative and had a very large mass under my arm so I am sure that is why I am scheduled for 8. I am on a 3 week schedule so I will be doing this seems like for months and months.
I go back and forth with my sleeping. Some nights I sleep and wake every couple of hours and it takes a long time to go back to sleep only to wake again. Other nights I sleep great but get up every couple of hours to pee and some nights I am blessed with a good night of uninterrupted 6 hours and still can go back for an hour or two. I don't work, I have been disabled with the panic/anxiety disorder, so I sleep when I can on my bad days. I don't take nothing to sleep unless I am having pain then I take a Tylenol pm which puts me to sleep.
I see many of us are experiencing the phantom hair syndrome!!! I think it is good that we can now find some humor to this because we all dealt with the grief of having to loose our hair...
I am relieved to see I am not the only one who hates the pink...I thought I needed to embrace all the pink ribbons and stuff in order to support all my fellow sisters but I never liked anything pink...I have a daughter who is trying to support me and is giving me all this stuff with pink ribbons and I have to find a way to tell her, no more.... all I see is what I seen on that US...a huge black blob with spikes....kind of like a spider...

so, put some pork tenderloin in my crock pot this morning with BBQ sauce for sandwiches for dinner and never plugged it in! Chemo Brain!
-
hair is shaved or buzzed I guess. It's done. But the little hair that is left is falling out. I wonder if I should get hubby to shave smooth?? What did you ladies do?
-
you look great, beautiful skin! my husband shaved mine smooth, it was like Velcro when I buzzed it, sticking to my pillow & scarves, drove me nuts!
-
The little hairs drove me nuts too. I shaved my own head with a new razor. It was smooth for a week. Now I have stubble all over my head. It isn't sensitive anymore.
-
Hi everyone,
I use vitamin E oil in the shower while still wet has been managing dryness.
I go in for round 3 tomorrow momat I think you are in the chair too. Started steroid today and feeling unusually tired did not feel that on it the last 2 times. Strange tired but too wired to sleep but exhausted.
Eyebrows have half disappeared even the MO said I should not lose them. Eyelashes also thining.
Had thrush and mouth sores last round hoping they wont be worse this round. I hear 2nd neulasta is better hoping for that also as I had 2 very painful days last time.
courage to all hang in there!
-
KLI, I am going for my 4th and final a/c tomorrow. I have a suggestion. Chew on ice chips when the chemo is being given. I have done this every time, and knock on wood, I have only had a couple of mouth sores. Good luck tomorrow.
-
RHGSR. You look beautiful.
Ladies, For the little pieces and stubble, i use Sensitive Pampers Wipes. After the shower & sometimes using Olive Oil in shower, i stand over sink and gently wipe my scalp with the Pamper wipes. The hairs actually stick to the wipes. See what you think Xoxo Amy ( momat927)
-
RHGSR you are gorgeous! thanks for posting.
-
hello ladies,
Tomorrow is red devil #3 for me also and I don't want to go. I feel like stomping my feet, wrapping my arms and legs around a tree and just refuse. I also think of all the things I would rather be doing than getting chemo. Like pulling my teeth out.
-
Beautifiul girl! You have a real glow about you. I shaved my clean as a baby's bottom but am still getting some stubble.
The battle continues!
-
Blessedw2 : I know exactly how you feel.....I feel the same way
but I also know that each step we take is helping us kick this cancer bitch's ass and I am not going down without a fight.
Stay focused.....you will get through # 3 and then only 1 more red devil to go!
Keep us posted and Good Luck!
-
Hi Mikesgirl17: I am also having pretty bad rash on chest, back, hands and face. Taking some benadryl and will see dctr. tomorrow....I am figuring it is an allergic reaction. I get really anxious about them postponing or having to change my schedule. I go for # 3 on Tuesday and just need to get it behind me.
Did they give you any suggestions for the rash/sores? Anyone elsre having this issue....Geez, like we don't have enough o deal with....now this!
-
RSGHR- so beautiful!!! I buzzed my short. Some of it never fell out and now seems to be re growing a bit. All sensitivity is gone.
-
Beths1, I will talk to my doctor about this dry skin and rash tomorrow when I go for chemo..
Hopefully she can help. I'll let you know what she says. The itch is really driving me nuts! -
Getting pumped up for round 3 tomorrow,.... Ding! Ding! Ding!
I am trying to sound tough and strong.... Is it working? Am I pulling it off?
-
momat, audra, OTD, we'll all be in the BGC tomorrow. In your pockets!
Hydrate, pee, hydrate, pee... what a fun night to look forward to, all while we are on steriods to keep us awake!:) Not whining, just telling it like it is...well maybe I am whining juuust a little.
I woke up at 5:30, I am too tired tonight to go thru the last posts, but I hope you all are doing well.
I use a toddler shampoo, body wash, conditioner on the little hair I have; Suave I think. Bought it for my grandkids because it is no tears and gentle. Smells like green apples! I haven't had any scalp problems so far, but I haven't cut or shaved mine short.
those donated braids are beautiful! thanks for sharing.
I hope we all get a good nights' sleep knowing that we are one day closer to the end of our treatment and recovery! Go warriors!

Blessedw2 - I have AC round 4 tomorrow. I understand where you are coming from. I am glad that I will be finishing up AC, but not looking forward to Taxol. This all sucks.
Mickesgirl17- Thank God you did self exams and didn't trust what your medical providers told you.
Jackieak - I use Vitamin E Oil with my lotion. The directions on the bottle mention drinking it, never have done that. Did your MO recommend rubbing it on mouth sores?
DJJ - I am sorry about Hawaii. My MO recommended using heat on my arm with the sore vein. I have been using my heating pad and it does help. I think my heating pad is becoming my go to for just about whatever ails me. It used to be wine...
Amazonwarrior1 - You have a very pretty hair color and it is great that you are able to donate it.
NEskir99 - Thanks for the video link, that was very insightful. I recommend it to those of you who haven't watched it yet.
RHGSR - Pretty picture and I like your bright pink running shoes. I was just in a down mood the other day. I think you said that your hubby got those for you. That was sweet.
Hoping we all have an easy time with our SEs.
Kim
-
Keepthefaith - I missed your post while I was posting.... Thanks for reminding me to hydrate this evening. I haven't had much water today. There are a lot of us getting chemo tomorrow... and I think DJJ is Friday.
Kim
-
oh Kim, I'm sry, I didn't realize you will be with us in the BGC! ((HUGS)) Hope we all do better than ever! -
Ladies, I can't even keep track of how many of us will be in the BGC tomorrow. Loving all the pictures....
I am right there with all of you, stomping their feet. Love that it is my final A/C round, but then that means I will need to figure out T/H and it will be once a week for 12 weeks along with my PT twice a week....
I can also say I DO NOT WANT another Neulasta shot....they hurt....claritin has not worked, and even the Percocet only lessens the pain enough to sleep a bit. The 2-3 day period of bone pain caused me to not be able to do my PT exercises and I now have cording in my arm. The neulasta pain seems to really concentrate itself around the area of the mastectomy and ALND....
Rant over.....
Here's to minimal SE's for us all.....
-
wow lots of final round 4 tomorrow, and many chemos being done.... I'm thinking of all of you and dreadfully awaiting mine next week...at least it is the last AC, and I am told by many that the taxol is easier...makes me wonder though given once a week, will I feel bad most of the time?
Kim, I put the vit E oil on the sore mouths.
Robin, I don't think the shot is given once AC is done, my MO said no shot...so one more thing to look forward to. I'm also starting PT tomorrow for the cording, I wore my arm sleeve today all day, and I don't have lymphodema signs, but it did make my arm feel better and less painful.
Thoughts and prayers with all in The BGC!
-
WOW, so many of us will be in the chair later today! Good luck to each of you. May the SE's fly over you this time
It is 5:47 and i have been awake since 4!
Keepthefaith, I am awake with you!
I am so tired so cannot go back to each post but I read all of your words with full attention and gratitude.

So after last night, I can def say that the steroid is either causing or intensifying my night sweats. Gross!
Round 3 is in a few hours and I am currently totally unprepared and need to get everyone up, but yet I am laying here setting the world record for hitting snooze.
Good luck to all my fellow Dec sisters getting TX today. Prayers for few to no SEs to us all!!!
-
Good Luck to those doing round four today! Woohoo! That means you're done with the Red Devil
and on to Taxol. I'll be right behind you tomorrow, Yay! Boo! I dread it but can't wait to get it over with!!!
I also have a rash, but it doesn't itch and isn't visible. It's just bumpy. It's on my chin down my neck, my head and on my upper back. Will be asking my MO about it tomorrow. I did some research and read that a rash in one form or another happens to most chemo patients...like we don't have enough to deal with.
My foot pain is now in a couple of fingers...tender. Sigh
-
ok ladies of the bGc today, Let's go get 'em!!!i have taken care of the family , showered and armored up! It gives me so much strength to know you are all doing this with me today. Not going just having another normal mundane Thursday like everyone else in my world. Kick ass ladies!!
-
Praying for minimun side effects for all getting chemo today and tomorrow. So happy for those getting their last red devil. I'm doing 6 rounds of TAC, 2 down and 4 more red devils to go.
Loved the rants earlier this week. As much as we try and stay postive sometimes you just want to shout that Cancer Sucks! We will all be warriors after this
-
RHGSR gorgeous !! hubby shaved mine with a strait razor so much better.
good luck today ladies !!! my fourth will be Tuesday, thinking of you all
-
Mikesgirl and NEskir- I see we are all triple negative
Leealice
-
