Concerned that this may be the new dx.

It will be exactly 2 years this Jan. 23rd that I found my lump and dx.Jan. 25th for IDC, stage 1, grade 3. Had bilateral mastectomy with tramflap, not able to salvage nipples. Oncotype was 26, started chemo of taxatere/cytoxin. Last tx was June 5, 2012.  Started on Anastrazole, started having joint pain with cortizone shots, switched to Tomoxafin, still the joint pain but oh my the hotflashes, then put on Femora, joint pain bad but hotflashes tolerable and take Effexor that helps those hotflashes as well. Jut wish I didn't have to feel so old and have the pain just to get out of bed. Had nipple reconstruction 11/2012. Throughout this process have had a lot of necrotic tissue and 4 new lumps to be watched that are all ok, a spot on spine on a bone scan that after 2 MRI's is not mets. Feeling blessed to take that deep breath every time I am shown to be ok, Now. literally woke up this morning with a red, irregularly shaped rash on my right breast near the same area of my breast cancer 2 years ago. I look up these types of symptoms and it all leans toward IBC. I know I will be calling my doctor tomorrow, but how crazy is this journey. What are the chances of starting another journey?

    kkclark,

I'm sure they will get you in soon to check  since you already had bc. Hoping it's not ibc & just a rash.

    Hi KKclark

Yes, best to get the rash checked out as soon as possible, however it may be something different all together.  I have had a few scares during the last 6 years and each one turned out OK.  The first rash appeared on the area where I had had the radiation, and it turned out to be an allergic reaction when I started taking glucosamine. Didn't know but apparently I was allergic to the shellfish in glucosamine.

A few more times I have had rashes in the same area, and it ended up being cellulitis infection, due to my lymphodema.issues.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

    regards Ched

kkclark, do you have a fever?  Feel achy with chills?  A sudden rash, especially in someone who's had lymph nodes removed, can be cellulitis, which I've experienced twice already.  Take a Sharpie marker and draw an outline around the rash border and see if it's on the move.  Cellulitis can grow quickly and needs antibiotics fast.  No matter what, you'll be in our thoughts and prayers.
