I know this is more than A Quote... But this was one of my (Big) sister's favorite songs.. we danced to it together along with some of the besties.. My sister Patricia or Pat as she was called by many.. was a loving, caring and gentle spirit. she died of complications, resulting from her CANcer treatments.. I miss her so. She was the perfect older sister.. She shared her friends with me.. They all became my big sisters. Funny when I look back on our time together, I remember 'Just how much fun we had'.. 'We Danced'..!! Loveforlife.. your post brought these memories back to my conscious mind.. Thank you.. Thank you all for so much inspiration.. Hugs and love, Bj
Just wanted to share..
I Hope You Dance is a crossover country pop song written by Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers, and recorded by country singer Lee Ann Womack with Sons of the Desert.
hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin'
Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin'
Don't let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin' out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder, where those years have gone?)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder, where those years have gone?)Friends, my sisters,, from other mothers, "I Hope and Pray We All Dance"..

Boni, "I Hope You Dance" has always been one of my very favorite songs. The lyrics are so perfectly pure. Lee Ann's vocals are also perfection. The video with her daughters always mesmerized me. I loved it when it first came out. Now, years later, after diagnosis, there are times I hear this song and it brings me to tears.
-
TheDivineMrsM.. It brings me to tears also.. but they are happy tears.. Tears of Hope, Tears of Joy and Tears of Happy Days to come.. for which I really "Hope We All Remember To Dance"..!! (((HUGS TO ALL))) Bj

Yes, Boni, I agree.

Great thread Ebru! And lots of fantastic quotes to read through.
I like "Humour is one of life's greatest shock absorbers" Comes in handy now and again.
-
Bestbird, I made your quote my status today on FB, such true words.
-
“To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be
continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in
no-man's-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh.– Pema Chodron

Comparison is the thief of joy.
-
Honestly, all these quotes are just blowing me away, so profound, so true, so meaningful.
-
"it's better to have loved and loss, then never to have loved at all."
-
Ebru, what a fabulous thread! You are the indeed the Queen of Topics!
Divine, I am glad that the quote resonated with you! Mr. Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning," is one of the most profound missives I've ever read - highly recommended!
Nihahi, what a profound quote... and oh so true!
-
Bestbird, a FB friend asks me for book suggestions and comments on books I mention that I've read, and vice versa. When I posted this quote, she immediately replied "Man's Search for Meaning" is an excellent book. I went right to my library page and placed a hold on it. I also looked it up on Amazon and it has stellar reviews. Looking forward to reading it.

Off of a Life Is Good T-shirt I got for Christmas
"Be the person your dog thinks you are!"
Maybe isn't the profound thought some of the others are but if you have a dog and they have looked at you with that "you are my hero and I adore you look" you know exactly what I mean. It is a lot to live up to.
-
Lilylady love it. It reminds me of that old joke:
Whats the difference between a new puppy and a new husband -
After a year the puppy is still excited to see you when you come home!

So be it!

Boni - I'll be dancing until I'm a whisper dancing on the wind. I love that song.
Thanks everyone for sharing amazing quotes.
Liz - thanks for sharing more Rumi. Rumi, Kabir, Hafiz are some of my favorites.
Not a quote, but a poem by Mary Oliver that I'd like to share. It reminds me that being open and able to pay attention to all the tiny details of life is a blessing.
The Summer Day
Mary Oliver
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life? -
