Anyone experience pain on mastectomy side while pregnant?

Hi everyone

I am currently 5 months pregnant and for the past two weeks I have been experiencing pain on the medial side of mastectomy sight. I underwent reconstruction in march with very little pain. Suddenly I feel as if my tissues are being expanded again! No redness, rash or hardness and it only hurts toward the evening. My husband said it looks more swollen than usual. I'm seeing my surgeon on Monday. Anyone ever experience this?

Warrior, even with mastectomy there are some small amount of breast tissue remnants left, so I would think they could react to pregnancy-related hormones and make that breast sore too.

    Thanks Melissa,

I figured this is probably the case but sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else.

I think it is important that you talk your breast surgeon.

If you had any sentinel/lymph nodes removed, you are at risk for developing lymphedema.

Being pregnant and the hormones, possible weigh gain with pregnancy (I don't know if you gained any),  the breast tissue left near the chest wall and lymphedema could all be possibilities.

I would also suggest posting this under the forum called Breast Reconstruction.

Just last week I went to my breast surgeon because of soreness I have had on the opposite side of cancer site, however I had bilateral mastectomy.   I too am 5 months pregnant.   Doctor says she doesnt feel like its anything there maybe some inflammation in between ribs.  I never thought about soreness due to tissue still there reacting to pregnancy.  I go back to surgeon next month,  I will mention it to her.

I didn't even think of asking you southernmom. I did see my surgeon today and he thinks it's irritated due to swelling. So I guess I just have to deal with it.
