TNBC worried after treatment
ok, so I just finished eight rounds of Chemo, getting ready to finish my reconstruction..my oncologist gave me the.."go & enjoy life you are fine" speech ...I can't help but worry , he wants to see me every other month..I chose to keep port for 2 year...& I just wonder...as I sit here at home watching my nails fall off & still short of breath from a hemoglobin of 9.1... How do I do that??? My ribcage hurts...& I keep thinking...is it my lungs??! How do I not let my mind run wild or is this normal??

I'd say it is pretty normal. I have TNBC and was cut off chemo after one treatment because I developed diverticulitis and to tell you the truth I hardly ever think of it coming back. I might be in denial or oblivious but since I was shocked that I got it in the first place I think I will be just as shocked if and when it comes back.
I did join and integrative health clinic to convince myself that I was doing all I could to prevent a recurrence so maybe that is why I am not ruminating on the what ifs.
I think it is hard to feel positive about anything when you still feel crappy. I had a low Hgb for a while and felt like I was dying. Once you start to feel better you might not worry as much.

Ronelali1 - Sounds like a version of myself when I was in your shoes. It's much easier said than done to "go and enjoy life, you are fine". I will tell you that for me, time is what helped. Eventually, it wasn't all I thought about. And without being concious of it, slowly but surely, breast cancer wasn't my first thought when I woke up in the morning and the last thought before I went to sleep. I can't tell you how long it took, but it was a while. I think your perfectly normal wondering what happens next. And as far as your ribcage, every ache and pain that you notice will trigger those thoughts. My rule of thumb (at the advise of my oncologist) is to wait 2-3 weeks after first noticing a new issue and see if it's still there. If it is, then mention it to your oncologist. If it seems serious, don't wait 2-3 weeks. Most of my things have resolved themselves before I needed to take it further. Just allow yourself time to adjust. It won't happen overnight and that's ok. Congratulations on making to the end of treatment. Now be good to yourself and allow your body the recovery time it needs.
Hugs,
Kathy

Kathy,
Thank You so much for your kind response, I think the fact that all of this has turned out to be so isolating for me has made me think about it too much & as I start feeling better I will get out a littler more.thank you again.
