One thing I find interesting about this Christie affair is how closely it mirrors one going on here. Some people in the Prime Minister's Office did some shady things. His response for months has been that he had no idea, is appalled and has punished those responsible. The fact that he appointed or hired all the participants and ought to know what his Chief of Staff is doing seems irrelevant to the PM. Seems like Christie is using a similar defence. The details are different, but the flow seems similar.

Nixon threw all of his staffers under the bus first thing. Except for John Dean, if I am remembering correctly, they all willingly took the fall. But the tapes were Tricky Dick's undoing. In Christie's case, the same thing could happen, except through emails.

Does a Governor have Executive Privledge?

John Dean - he did well.  Still remember his wife with that blond honeycomb bun.

I've heard two "trustworthy" people on cable news, independently, say that the Bridget Kelly they know would not do this on her own.  Given her support, she might turn.  Only Chief of Staff stands between her and Christie.

If she's looking at criminal jail time, she just might.

Until that happens, Christie is under a cloud if not actually the perp himself.  No go for him in 2016.

And that's a good thing, cause I believe he was the only good shot the Repubs had at winning.

So.........the glitches in the Healthcare.gov website were ALL Obama's fault, but the busiest bridge in the U.S. closing lanes, tying up traffic, preventing emergency vehicles from getting through etc. ISN'T Christie's fault?

    What's wrong with this picture?

C4C - great observation.  Nope, Christie was a victim, per him, in all of this.  Did he say he was responsible too?  (I did not listen to the full 2 hours.)

Poor little Chris. He is so misunderstood.

He did say he was responsible, but only because he innocently trusted the wrong people. Sigh.

And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you :)

Yes, he kept saying I'm firing Bridgett Kelly because she lied to me.  That just got to me - what about because of what she ordered and did to the people of New Jersey?

Just got home from work so will have to tune into some NEWS to see what salient points are out there.  I did hear something about the 5th.  Wondered about this last night......seems like someone really wants to "keep" the chubby guy as far away as possible.  Some of the news people say their is a HUGE amt. of communications, pages and pages, still out there, and many pieces of the ??22??? given had blacked out names.

There are rats scurrying for cover everywhere, but I think in the end....who said it here, the chubby guy let it go on too long.  Thought maybe some good old fashioned nonchalance  and the proper people quitting in advance would quell the curiosity.  Well, it could have if not for a reporter ( young looking ) who just knew what a rat smells like and was not going to be stymied from finding it.  I too, think in the end, Chubby will be too  tarnished by the original foot-dragging for openers and whatever else comes to light.  Now off to the t.v.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned it yet, but he also somewhat made light of the 91 year old woman's death. Said every death is sad, but he didn't really know what she died of (implying it might not have been due to the slow EMS response). Then snapped that people should just get over this woman's death, or something like that.

Ooooh, the FBI is now investigating.  And soon (if they haven't already) the tealiban apologists will be nattering on about how everyone is piling on and making a mountain out of a little traffic jam in a jurisdiction that is always jammed.  You know that is coming .... But it would be a capital offense if a Dem was even suspected of thinking about it.   Ugh.

Back from the t.v. watching......and just re-reading and thinking what a good point Yorkie.  The 91 yr. old lady.  The person I work with lately is 97.  Still washes, get dressed, puts on light make-up, and though she needs a walker gets around the house just fine.  Just meaning that while no one here knows about the 91 yr. old.......if the paramedics could have reached her sooner ??????? -- could she have survived for 6 more yrs.  No one will ever know, but how cavalier the response given.

With most of the news I watched, it seemed to boil down to pretty much, I'll apologize all over the place but I still didn't know till yesterday.  First the bridge is closed and now you try to sell it?  I'm with everyone else.  His days are numbered so now he REALLY can focus on being a good governor.  Along with cleaning up this mess, maybe he can even turn up what happened to all the Sandy funds to get all those people back in their homes and fulfill the promise made.  I'd like to know who has that money.

    Sunflowers......chortle, chuckle, he-haw, snort.

Jackie - never noticed the resemblance between Fats and Sergeant Schultz before.

Sun- LOL.  I thought of Casablanca, too.  One show on MSNBC even ran that clip.

The similarity with Christie and Harper stopped when Christie said he was sorry. He said it much better than Rob Ford ever did - and Stephen Harper is not at all sorry and not taking any responsibility for anything done in his office by his heretofor trusted advisors. It's all interesting to watch.

Saw the Christie story on the news here tonight - I really hope he doesn't ever get to run for president - he is disgustingly fat and that does not project a good image anywhere.

Busy week at work - looking forward to relaxing after I finish the washing tonight.

I don't think Christie is sorry for what happened to the people in Fort Lee trying to cross the bridge.  I think he's awfully sorry his people got caught.  I listened to news all yesterday. After the two hour news conference, pity fest, there are now people who believe him.  He didn't know nothing until he read the Bergen Record.  His people at the Port Authority saying there was no traffic study, didn't even give him a hint that something was out of wack.  Nope, poor guy just asked his aides, did no investigation, because he doesn't have any background in investigating, and he was duped.  Poor fat stupid guy - or that's the narrative that some people are buying, and it ain't true.   There is a real pattern in this administration of petty and not so petty retaliation against anyone who challenges the governor.  Barbara Buono was on last night, talking about how donors were afraid to give an amount that meant their names  would  be revealed. What pisses me off -  is watching morning Joe and all the Christie apologists talking about how he handled it right, bla bla.   The very best you can say about the guy would be that he was clueless and had no control over what his closest allies were doing.  But that's not Christie.  Commissioners need permission from him to meet with state Senators.  He's is a hands-on, in control guy, and the idea that four, count them, four of his closest aides just decided to go rogue without any prompting from him is unbelievable.  And people are buying this?

Well, maybe enough people thought Casablanca to keep the story going for a while.  REALLY, can anyone believe that a staffer who worked closely with him for FIVE YEARS didn't know what he WANTED, and would do anything she thought would upset his normal operating procedure.

REALLY?  One staffer walks the plank, and it's ovah?  I don' think so.  Op research hasn't even BEGUN on this one..tee, hee..."the gift that keeps on giving" - EACH incident going back to first political job gets the Sherlock treatment....more giggles....

Vindictive is not a political trait which does well in a Focus Group :-)))))

All the news ( and I'm ready to read some of the GWB emails ) will be heavily focused on Chubs, but there is other news taking place.   http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/01/10/gop-refuse-medicaid-expansion/  I read this and really felt upset all over again with the "Christian" principles that can allow anyone to allow things talked about in this article to happen.  Sadly, the people who do this will not face the punishment they so richly deserve.   It is in my book absolutely criminal.  Too many Christies running amok....so right they can justify any behavior.  Send out any excuse and pretend to themselves and society they are addressing a greater good.  For WHOM????  As if I didn't know.
