Zohra, there is one study showing a correlation between high-fat dairy intake and breast cancer. Many people limit their intake of cheese or cut it out completely. Chips are probably best avoided, for all kinds of reasons. They are full of unhealthy fats and unhealthy carbs. Better to cut up some veggies, like cucumber sticks, and dip them in some hummus or babaganoush.

Zohra - I feel the same way Momine does.

I am 100% ER+ , yet there is no one food that my MO has prohibited, except for soy milk.

She just wants me to eat a balanced diet, and get my nutrients from real food, not supplements.

But since losing a considerable amount of weight last year, I do my best to substitute healthy alternatives - like veggies -  for the greasy, salty snacks I used to eat.

Estrogen is produced in body fat (especially belly fat), so the less I have, the healthier I will be.

We do get a lot of our snacks at Trader Joe's - organic low-fat string cheese, Reduced Guilt Tortilla Chips, fat-free sour cream with no additives, which we mix with their Corn Salsa for a great dip. But I have to watch my carbs. If I do eat them, I carefully measure out one serving and stop there.

We are also Gluten-Free in our house, and unfortunately, we found the GF snack aisle at Walmart. Just because it's GF doesn't mean it's healthy.

Always check for fat content, sodium content, and carbs before you put anything in your cart.

    Best wishes to your mom.
