Supine position for left breast radiation

Options

I'm supposed to start radiation next week on my left breast.  I was scanned in the prone (on my stomach) position but my RO said my heart was still in the way.  She wants do do a scan in the supine (on my back) position to see if it's any better. Everything I've read says the prone position is the best way to keep from damaging the heart and lungs. Has anyone else experienced this situation? I'm scared that after going through all this, lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and 5 years of hormone therapy, I develop heart problems.  Thanks

I had radiation 4 years ago for left breast cancer and was on my back.  I have had no problems afterwards caused by my radiation that I am aware of.  Good luck to you!

I would trust your RO.  It is good that she wants to run a scan to see which way is best.  I know some ladies here have been instructed to do a certain breathing technique to minimize this problem.  Maybe some of them will post suggestions for you.

I do not know much about this. But i don't think it will cause any bad effect. You should go with your RO's advice.
