How long is reconstruction process

I had a bi-lateral mastectomy with TE's in May 2013, then had my exchange Oct 2013.  Since then I've had lipo with fat injections and my breasts still look somewhat deformed.  I was told by my PS that I need more fat injections.  When I lift my arm or bend over  my breasts look like the implant is adhering to the muscle or skin.  Not sure if that makes sense… but has anyone had a similar experience?  I'm wondering how long the whole process is.  I thought I'd be done by now.  What are some experiences you've all had?

Thank you!

Chantel, if you have anatomical gummies, then the implant is supposed to adhere to the muscle.  That's what keeps the implant from rotating.  Implant reconstructed breasts don't ever have the natural movement or flow of a normal breast.  And if you flex your pec muscles, the implant always contorts.  That's all 'normal' with implant reconstruction.  So I don't know if the issues you are having are just normal outcomes of implant reconstruction, or if there is a problem.

As for how long reconstruction takes, that's different for everyone.  My process went smoothly and it took 7 months.  For many women, particularly if they require revision surgery, the process can take well over a year.  There is no standard on how long it should take.  Each case is unique.

I'd suggest that you repost this in the Reconstruction Forum on this board.  The audience in this forum is mostly women with DCIS, some of whom have had a MX but many of whom have had a lumpectomy so there won't be too many readers who will be able to offer advice or share their experience.  The Reconstruction Forum brings together everyone on this board who's had reconstruction, so there will be many more women there who can offer advice about your situation.
