Goodluck, Kate. I think you will find that the radiation alleviates your pain a great deal.
There are a lot of hormone therapies available, so being er+, you will have many options down the road.
Once you start treatment your life will become more normal again. Best to you!

thank you everyone!! Sandilee I would love relief after radiation. Your words were just what I was hoping to hear from some!! I will have hysterectomy in two weeks then radiation here I come then hormone therapy!! I am also having a pet scan tomorrow. Dr thinks isolated as ct showed clear in lungs and what not but who knows, he says treatment will stay the same either way!
What kind of pain meds do they give? I hate the idea of needing them but know I will. Also..... Has anyone ever had itching under the skin near the tumor sight?? My skin feels like someone ticketing me under my skin?!? Strange!!!!!

Kate.....could you describe your sternum pain? Did it hurt to move, at rest, or to touch? I have concerns myself. I'm having a bone scan Friday for low back pain and every pain makes me worry.

hi Dutch! Well mine started when playing basketball in July 2012! For first 6 months it was painful to: roll over on bed, sitting up from lying down, picking up laundry basket, looking over shoulder driving...... Then it started feeling better for about a month then the pain changed: sharp pains, tender to touch, my boob and fake boob even get strange pains. (Dr said that is from the nerve endings effecting my breasts) The only pain pain I have is if I sit for to long I get very very stiff. Other wise it's not unbearable. Oh and the whole time I have random shoulder blade pain, dr said it's from the way you sit or slouch when sternum is hurting. Kinda all makes sense to me now!!! Hope this helps a little. Gl with your bone scan. That's the best start, it will let them see if there is something going on then if so they will have u prob do a ct scan!!!! Keep us posted!!!!! Gentle hugs!

Kate, thanks for answering. I'm going it's nerves or related to costochondritis or something. I had a chest CT last August that was all clear. The bone scan is for back pain which might be a little better.
Im sorry you didn't get better news. Sending good wishes for the PET scan results.

Hi Kate, my pain is about the same as you described...all of it! I had bone scan and CT scan after all treatments last year and only lung disease was found (from radiation). Then about 5 months ago I hit my chest (where tumor was) with a corner of a box and it was painful for a couple of days. Couple of months later, my chest started hurting. I went to my GP and she said the same thing, scar tissue or chondroathritis! I still have my expander so she said maybe that I need to replace it now. I asked maybe I broke my bone and she said highly unlikely. I do have osteoporosis and had stopped taking my med for dental work (that's another chapter). anyway, GP had me take anti inflammatory which worked and she told me not to worry because my previous scan was clear. Now pain had just started again and also now on the other side and it didnt help that I have a bit of a cough so it hurts even more its just as you described. I also went for my checkup with oncologist last week and my tumor markers are high. He said it might not be related to the pain I have but he ordered pet scan. I'm waiting for pet scan approval from my insurance now. I'm scared but glad to see this site and saw your post. You are very brave and you are handling everything pretty well. I wish you speedy recover from your surgery and great results from your treatment! I also had hysterectomy but I think I get my hot flashes from tamoxifen. So I take it in the AM so I could sleep at night without sweating.
