"My treatment" options, here, are too limited.
I'm going on 3 years now, post mastectomy. Now age 52. Decided to come back here and chat. I also decided to put in my info, in the "My Profile". I wish I could have put what treatment I chose. I had stage 3 bc, but I bucked the system and refused the chemo, radiation, and hormone suppression drugs. I've been very happy with the alternative methods I chose. Too bad that can't be acknowledged.

Jen,
I read your post with interest because I was diagnosed with stage 2a breast cancer(2 1/2 months ago). I had 2 surgeries and am now in radiation. I decided on the radiation because I had a positive lymph node. Like you, I also decided to forgo the chemical treatments and would be interested in hearing about the alternative treatments. Any info would be much appreciated.

hi Jen,i refused chemo too, regret having rads so would be interested to hear morere your approach
-
Jen, I think you could use the Bio section of the profile info for your alternative treatment options.

Hi,
I went crazy learning. I didn't panic, I got informed. I read Dr. Lee's "What Doctors don't Tell You about Breast Cancer", Suzanne Somer's book, "Knockout", Dr. Blaylock's book, " Natural Cancer Strategies", etc.....So eye opening!!!! I'm now the healthiest I've ever been! I've optimized my thyroid ( found out it was low), balance my hormones with Bioidenticals, take supplements, including 10,000iu of vit D a day, exercise, and I'm having a blast learning all kinds of healthy ways to eat, including gluten-free.
Weight at time of Mastectomy-162....weight now-118. I'm awesome!

Hi Jen, Congrats on your success. I've read all the books you mention plus many more. I wish I had known more at dx than I did. Heck, back then I didn't even know there was more than one kind of breast cancer. I had the misfortune of having a doctor who apparently didn't know that either, and my tumor got an extra 9 months to grow because of it.
I wish there was a lens we could use to see what other choices would have brought. Ironically, it was surgery that was scaring me the most at the time. Now, I wish I might've been spared the chemo and the rads.
I just passed my 9-year anniversary of dx. If the ugly beast should ever revisit, I know what I would do differently. Even better, I know what to do daily to protect my health and keep illness at bay. Chemo/surgery/rads/tamoxifen were the only choices I was offered at the time I went through my treatments.

So tired of the arguments on choice of treatment. I take Lugols but have horrible bromide detox...would iodoral be better? Dr. Wong also recommends iodine for my treatment.
-
Hi jojo, I've used Iodoral the whole time since I started, and getting rid of the bromide is part of what you want. Bromide is literally stinky, and my main symptoms (watch out for tmi) were armpits and urine that really smelled bad for several months. Not uncomfortable per se, but not pleasant either. If you're getting headaches, chug a tall glass of water with salt (1/2 teaspoon or so). If that doesn't make you pee, repeat in 45 minutes until you do pee a lot. The salt won't stay with you long, and it will glom onto the nasties and escort them to the exit.
-
Congrats Jen and Althea! Hugs and many more new years to both of you!
-
Jojo, check with a doctor. The list of bromide detox symptoms seems to have a lot of overlap with the list of iodine poisoning symptoms.
-
Oops, just realized I posted my iodine comment in wrong thread...sorry!
Momine, I don't take a large amount of iodine...very minimal so cannot be poisoning.
-
Althea....do u think iodoral is better than liquid Lugol's?
-
Jen...would love to hear of your protocol?
-
Jojo, may I ask what "minimal" is in this context?
-
10,000 vitamin D? I only take 1,000 ---Is it okay to take that much? Just curious---
-
Congrats Jen. I think the happy way in which you seems to live your life was a major support to get rid from this disease. In many cases there are positive results in BC without Chemo .
