My name is Amanda Williams and I was diagnosed with triple negative IDC on 11/20. I am 31 years old with a 7 year old son. I was just curious if all this waiting is making my prognosis worse. My surgery was scheduled for 1/8 and I will have a lumpectomy, My tumor is 1.7 cm. My surgeon did not seem worried about not having surgery till Jan and said it would be fine to wait until after the holidays (which i'll admit I was grateful for) but also worried at the same time because part of me really wants this out of me already! I guess I'm just really nervous thanks for listening...:)

Hi Amanda. I am sorry you have to join us but this is a great group of positive and helpful women!  I was diagnosed last New Year's Eve and I rushed to have my surgery on January 14th. Like you, I wanted the cancer out as soon as possible so my surgeon put a rush on it. I was lucky because all of my tests came back pretty quickly including my BRCA test which was negative. But most women have to wait awhile just like you do. I think my surgeon was very pushy and fought for me to have surgery quickly.

I am also younger (was 35 at diagnosis) and I have a 3 year old and 7 year old. So this diagnosis was devastating to me. But you can get through it and now I feel the healthiest that I ever have been. It is a long and tough road, but it is definitely doable at our young age. If you ever have any questions, please PM me!!

Of course you are nervous!!! How you and so many like you make it this long thru the wait is amazing to me.  I made mine happen as fast as possible (within the month from diagnosis to surgery) but my surgeon told me the 'average' wait from diagnosis to surgery is THREE MONTHS! incredible, no?  I don't know how people do it without sleeping pills. I didn't have any, so it was hard. !!!  Good luck, you're almost there!
