Going in for Surgery in the Morning

Options

Pray for me. I just entered the discussion board. I posted in the wrong area. Of course I deleted it and now I am starting again. Tonight, I'm getting ready for my journey tomorrow. I am having a lumpectomy on the left breast. I forgot to ask my doctor when I start radiation, because that will be part of my treatment. Oh well, I'll ask tomorrow. For some reason, I am not managing very well financially. I will have to apply for temporary disability until I finish my radiation treatments. I hope that works out.

simplypoised...good luck tomorrow. A lumpectomy is no sweat - I had one. Doctors typically want you to heal before you begin Rads treatments. I had to have a second surgery to even up the margins - again no big deal. I think it was about a month before I started the Rads but only because I had the second surgery. I think a lot of us are feeling the economic pinch. I am sure you can work something out with the doctors/hospital. I have insurance through my husband's job but we have a large deductible. I went through that deductible in 2 months. Is what it is. Don't worry about that now just take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing. Diane

    Diane,

Thank you for caring. I finished the surgery and I am healing quite well. I will see the oncologist on 2/3/14. My surgery was on 12/30/13. That will give me a month to heal. I did not feel bad afterwards. I thought I was going to have a lot of pain. My cataract surgeries were worst. Thank you for being concerned and take care.

My surgery was on December 17...I know exactly how you are feeling tonight....do not worry, the surgery is not difficult...you will be able to handle it....just breathe and know it is going to be okay....don't worry about the money...It will all come together somehow...the most important thing is getting healthy.........The recovery period is not that bad either...just have someone there you can rely on and cry on their shoulder....
